Will be flying in to San Diego 10 Apr 2021 for the 11 Apr 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise. I would appreciate any recommendations for a overnight hotel within walking distance to DCL Port San Diego?

Marriott Bayfront Springhill Suites. It's the Blue and Yellow building in the skyline along the harbor, almost directly across from the port.

Do you need a pool?
We've stayed at the big Hilton on the waterfront. The pool there is amazing. Its a bit of a walk into the gaslamp district for dinner, but not bad.

(I assume its walking distance to the dock, we walked everywhere on that trip.)

This was the view from our room at the SpringHill Suites. It was an easy walk to the ship.

We stayed at the Wyndham but it was basic. Fine of you just need somewhere to sleep before. The streets behind is the little Italy area where we had some great pizza and coffee

We've stayed at that Wyndham a couple of times. Agree - it's pretty basic. They have a Claim Jumper's as their house restaurant, which is OK, kind of hit or miss. There's a really good deli next door too. But hey, it's San Diego and you're in the heart of the downtown / Gas Lamp district and there are literally 1000 places to eat nearby that are very good.

The biggest advantage for us was literally walking across the street to the port to board / disembark and not having to deal with a taxi or shuttle. We usually fly in / out a full day before. But even then, you're a stone's throw from the airport, so that's not bad either.

Thanks for all that responded. Great info and pics to boot!!! Still up in the air about the cruise because of unannounced changes due to covid but I sure need a getaway cruise.

Several of the hotels offered a free shuttle although I can understand your desire to be near the port.

Immediately across the street are the following:
Springhill Suites (same property as the RI)
Residence Inn(Same property as the SHS)
Wyndham San Diego Bayeside
Intercontinental Hotel (New).

I have stayed at both the RI and SHS. Both are decent properties. There are several others that are not far from there and will offer shuttle service. DM me if you would like more info.

We stayed at the Springhill Suites for the Members Cruise May 2019. Very nice and well-located hotel for the cruise and walking around San Diego.

How far is walking distance? We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Seventh Avenue. It is a 1 point 1 mile walk.......downhill.....to the cruise ship terminal. But they offer a free shuttle if you don't want to walk. And they will pick you up at the airport for free. And free breakfast. We walked it frequently, although BACK to the hotel was exercise since was uphill. About $135 a night, much cheaper than the waterfront hotels.

Wyndham Bayside gave us this gorgeous view of her coming into port. You're directly across the street and can pay to park your car there while on the cruise. Have a great cruise!
