Anyone recently done the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" Tour?

Hello,
I am trying to decide if we should take this tour when we go in December. We took the Holiday Tour last year, and loved it.

I have some questions:
1. Do you actually get to go inside Walt's apartment over the firehouse?

2. Where do they serve lunch now that the Disney Gallery is the Dream Suite?

3. Do you get to go on any rides or get priority seating for any shows with this tour? I don't think so, but just askin'...:goodvibes

I did the tour in August 2007 and can answer your questions.

1. You do not get to go into Walt's apartment. They'll show you where it is and your guide may tell you some stories about the Disney family, but you will not get to see inside of it.

2. We ate lunch in the courtyard right by where you meet to begin your tour. In our case we also got to eat lunch with our guide, who told us even more neat stories.

3. We rode the Jungle Cruise with and learned all about the attraction in a new light. IIRC, our guide was a former skipper, so we had "double" the fun.

Your guide may also tell you about assorted hidden Mickeys, random notes about Walt's influence on Disneyland, and show you the remains of long gone attractions(the original House of the Future). All in all, it's an interesting tour, but I already knew a lot of what was talked about because I'm such a Disney geek.

I especially recommend the tour for anyone not very familiar with Disneyland because it will give you an incredible perspective on just why some of us call Disneyland Walt's park.

I always like going on the Holiday Tour! It's so much fun. So anyways...

1. Do you actually get to go inside Walt's apartment over the firehouse?

Sadly, no.

2. Where do they serve lunch now that the Disney Gallery is the Dream Suite?

As the pp said, it's in the courtyard. I wish it was the Dream Suite though.

3. Do you get to go on any rides or get priority seating for any shows with this tour?

We went in the Tiki Room, on the Disneyland RR, and on JC. When we went on the train, we got to sit in the Lilybelle! It was super warm in there though. We also went in the Opera House, but didn't watch the show.

You also get to go in the lobby of Club 33 and I got to take a pic of me in the elevator! The last time I took the tour before this last previous time, we got to go in the lobby, but no pics in the elevator. Another thing that was added are the headsets that everyone wears. It's easier to hear the tour guide, you get to hear sound bites of Walt talking, and you can hear music while walking from place to place. I would say that a lot of the things that were mentioned on the tour is also mentioned in the 50 Magical Years film in the Opera House, but I still like going on the tour every once in a while since every guide is different. Plus, the pin I got this last time was different from the time before so that was nice.

I completely forgot about the Tiki Room. You also get to bring see one of the original flowers from when the Tiki Room opened.

I didn't even know there were tours! I have been focusing all my energy on this site I guess!! Thanks for the heads up I'm going to try and convince my friends that we sould take one!

I too did the tour last July and it was like the PP posters mentioned. Sat in the Lilly Belle but doing it in Dec is probably MUCH better as it was SO hot my mom ended up with heat stroke! We did watch the tikki room show and got to see the flower and rode Jungle Cruise. We also went in the Opera House and also to the Main Street Cinema which I had NEVER been in once LOL. I thought it was funny that I knew more about the history than our tour guide LOL.

I did enjoy the tour though and would recommend it!

I also loved the Holiday tour and I did the Halloween one too although I don't know if they are even still doing that one but it was fun too!

We had the VIP tour which gives you and overall about the Walk in Walt's footstep. We didn't get to see the inside of Walt's apt but we did get to ride in the Lillie Belle which had some of Lillian's needlepoint.....we also had the chance to ride in the fire engine for the parade, the same fire engine Walt would ride in in his bathrobe before the park opened each day ( so we were told by our tour guide)
