We booked a 1 bedroom villa thru Disney using Dreams Unlimited a couple of years ago and got a pretty good rate. I know everyone says to book thru a DVC member, but I was just wondering if anyone has just gone thru Disney recently and if so, what was your room type, rate and time of year?

Hmmm. I'm surprised you got a discount. I didn't think DVC offered discounts on DVC rooms unless you were a member. I know you can't get AP rates for DVC rooms.

I booked a Studio at BWV through Disney for June 23-26. I received an AP discount for the room.

BC was most likely refering to renting points from a DVC member, which can be reasonable.. however its a contract situation, so there is trust/risk involved for both parties. Look over the rent/trade boards for more details.

A certain percentage of all DVC resorts are set aside for Disney to rent on a cash basis just as they do the other Disney resort rooms. Sometimes you can get an AP discount on these particular rooms.

This is not the same as booking a room using points or getting a DVC member discount on a cash reservation.

Also some rent points to book a stay at a DVC resort. Depending on the time of year, size of room, and if you avoid Friday and Saturday, renting from a member can be less expensive than booking the same room with Disney.

However as someone else stated, this is private agreement between 2 parties and Disney has no involvement in it. There is a element of trust and also an element of risk involvement, though most never have any problems.

as someone who has rented a few times from DVC owner, I am here to say I have never had a problem
Can't imagine why anyone would pay $150 plus more a nite when they can rent it from DVC owner.

As previous poster stated, friday, saturday nite much more expensive..

not problem for me, I stay elsewhere on property and get to visit a resort on the MK side..

works for me every time
