Just wondering if anyone has actually received their 50% refund for the 9/4 cruise. I am being told my refund is pending. Same story for over a week.

Called Disney Cruise line and finally got to a supervisor. Here's the bottom line folks: They are attempting to rip us off. They are trying to refund 50% of the fare amount minus the travel agent markup! (not including port charges, insurance or anything else)

So for my cruise with the family, the total fare was 1780. Half of that is 890, but they are trying to refund only 600 dollars or so. It's unbelievable the rip off they are trying to perpetrate. The manager was even embarrassed about it.

Even though the insurance and port fees are less for a 4 day cruise, they are trying to get away with not refunding the difference.

It's a very cynical move. They are counting on the fact that most people won't remember the details and just be happy that they got something back and they'll take care of the 'squeaky wheels' one at a time because that's cheaper for them.
Don't take this guff off of them. Be a squeaky wheel. Here's the email address to write to them.

Be factual. List out your reservation number, all the details of what you paid and what you expect back and let them know that we are totally dismayed to find this type of attempted rip off coming from Disney.

I got most of mine back.( I'm just waiting for one more deposit to show) They did not refund my insurance but I don't expect them too. We were stuck in Disney World and actually have to claim on the insurance because of trip delay. I did get some money back for the port fees also. Over all..i'm happy with the refund I got back from them. We were in a suite so it's like another free cruise for us. :hyper:

The supervisor I talked to said it's taking so long because they are not refunding the same amount to every person. They have to go through every reservation and refund one by one.

Good luck....

so we should expect to see a refund soon? is there a number i can call?
thanks guys and gals

Not DCL, but I was to be on a Holland America 9/4 cruise. They also didn't sail until Monday. They offered NO REFUND for the missed portion, but gave a shipboard credit. Sounds like DCL did better. They did offer a full refund if you wanted to cancel. Those that booked with TAs got the full amount less the travel agent's commission. I booked with HAL and got the refund. We would have liked to sail anyway, but for a 4 day cruise at a 7 day price, it was kind of pointless.

Travis - could you please email me so I can have my facts straight when I call the next time. You are the only one so far that has actually gotten their credit. Please email.

Oh my. 50% off a cruise fare is just that: 50% off the cruise fare. They have to settle with the travel agents. I understand some port fees or whatever, but 50% off the fare as they stated on their website is just that. Sheesh ..... amazing! lol
