I gotta find SOMEONE else who purchased this kit. It actually has a 35th Anniversary logo on it (did not notice that when I was buying it) and it has a bazillion characters.....completed size is 18" x 24" with a navy blue background and when I saw it I fell in love with it. It was over $50 but I figured, hey, I am a school hall monitor always looking for something to keep busy with while eyeballing our hallways....and it looked like it would be BEAUTIFUL when completed.

Imagine my surprise when I got home from my trip and opened it up to find that the design is NOT STAMPED onto the background fabric!! LOL...I know I am quite the novice and havent really embroidered in AGES but I do remember that everything I DID do had the pattern stamped onto it.

I think I am going to go blind!!!:scared1:

I am thinking of returning it when I go back in August but cant find the receipt.....

I think I am going to be stitching this thing until I am old and gray!!! (or should I say older and grayer lol

Anyway - wanted to vent and see if anyone here had done this. Thanks

Cross-stitch patterns almost never have a pattern stamped on them. I think you were thinking of needlepoint, which Disney does not do patterns for. I'm sure you'll be fine, but the post above has a good suggestion too.:thumbsup2

I don't think any of the Park exclusive designs will be stamped as they're by Stoney Creek and Marilyn only does counted designs :). A tip to help with seeing the holes on the dark fabric--put a white towel on your lap and it will make the holes show up better (and you won't go blind quite as quickly ;))!

Actually Janlynn does have some Disney stamped cross stitch items, but they're mostly baby things. I can't post the link because I don't have enough posts, but if you Google Janlynn you can find their home page :).

What you have is a counted cross stitch kit. What you are thinking of is a stamped cross stitch.

I've done both, but mostly I do counted cross stitch. You probably won't go blind, but it will require more concentration than a stamped pattern as you need to make sure you count the squares as you go. So if you need to really pay attention on your job, you may not be able to work on this while doing that. And unfortunately, with a detailed counted cross stitch, there is more room for error simply because it is so easy to lose count.

It is possible to buy a frame to place your background in while you are stitching. I think mine was $15 at Michaels. That way the fabric stays nice and smooth and it is easier to see the holes on a dark pattern.
I like the dark backgrounds so much that is almost all that I will stitch. And I'm not blind...yet:rotfl2:
