Anyone Planning International Travel for August Now That Restrictions Have Loosened?

It has been increasing, but in general, not (yet) to the level you are generally seeing around Orlando and Florida. The US CDC has good information and links to analyze this data - just trying to stay within the posting guidelines for COVID discussions...
Thank u! I’ll seriously have to consider this then... just checked Disneyland hotel prices and we wouldn’t be paying much more at all!
Oh what to do... ha!

We just cancelled our August 22 WDW trip a couple of days ago. The case counts, crowds, and stories of people testing positive despite being fully vaccinated were just too much for us. I was prepared to have my DVC points go in to a Holding account but I called Member Services and they put all my points back and have extended the expiry to May 2022.

Looked at switching to DL as well but I think at this point, I'd rather hang by the beach so pricing out all inclusives.

I’m also looking at DL (although have not canceled DW yet)
We were pricing out Mexico, Punta Cana, St.Maarten- AI - prices are insane for being off season like around $6000 + for 3 of us (one Ds12) plus cost of covid testing in destination.
And this is very last minute - august 15.
I guess new reality if we want to travel right?

If you're still interested in AI, you should check again. I was looking to travel the week of August 22 or 29 and prices have dropped since yesterday.

Thank you will check!
I’m off from August 13-30 so could go there second week too. I just for sure wanted to be back by August 23 if going to the US in case we had to self isolate so DS doesn’t have to miss the beginning of school.
Which ones are you looking at if I may ask?

I was looking at Mayan Riviera (either Iberostar or Riu) and Jamaica (Iberostar). Leaning towards Jamaica and will probably book it today. I was hoping the travel voucher from my cancelled AC flight to MCO would be issued so I can use it towards this booking (it says allow up to 6 weeks to process but I cancelled another flight last month and the voucher was issued the following day.)

I haven't done the ArriveCan stuff yet, but my understanding is that you have to upload each vaccination "receipt" to the App

Yes, you upload two PDFs. I uploaded one for each dose. The second one says 2/2 but doesn't give details of what the first dose was (or when it was given). I also had a certificate (that was for the Euro COVID app) that does detail both.

I also brought print outs of all three certificates as well as having e-copies on my phone. And had a print out of my ArriveCAN receipt. And of my negative PCR test. All labelled with Post-it notes. The agent asked if I had had both doses, I said, "yes" and handed over my phone to show the ArriveCan app plus pulled out my file and he was basically "Yay, you're good. I believe you. Don't need to see the docs" (he also didn't actually look at my App receipt - but maybe can see something on his screen after scanning my passport?).

We are supposed to be on a plane now heading down to Tampa for the first part of our trip, but had to reschedule it for later this month Our daughter had a medical emergency that put her in Sick Kids for over a week in ICU and we want to give her some time to recuperate. We decided to reverse the trip though with going to Universal Orlando first because it showed low crowds and then hit our apartment on the Gulf Coast after. Fingers crossed things improv a little bit at least over the next 2 weeks

For those looking to push out their trip, the week of January 2nd has some decent resort prices and ticket prices go down as the week goes by. Universal is also way off their peak pricing during that week. Airfare is also reasonable that week. I know the weather can be hit and miss at that time of the year. The reason I am mentioning this is that this may align with the school calendar in some locations. Still unlikely that vaccination will be available to the under 12 crowd at that time... but...

Shhhhhhhh you’re giving it away :poop:.

This is our trip week if we don’t have to cancel. Our board was the only one I could find in Ontario that has that week off though (DSBN and NCDSB) . We go back on the 10th but our Xmas break doesn’t start until December 24th.

Marathon weekend starts the 6th so that will make things quite a bit busier. I know people say it doesn’t affect crowds that much but there will be a noticeable surge for that many runners and their families. Not a reason not to go, but something to be aware of as the races do change the busing and driving around the resort, and may make parks busier in the afternoons and evenings. I’d be really happy to have fastpass back by then but I’m not holding my breath and even if it’s back, it’s not going to be the same most likely.

Ours does too (CECCE) - I thought we'd get the week before Christmas, but got happily surprised... and looks like we have the same off/break schedule. If we end up going that week, we were thinking Universal first followed by Disney... but may switch things to avoid the Marathon crowd... we'd be flying out on the Friday anyway... All I know is potentially no parks on the Tuesday to get the tests done, if it is still a thing then.

Now, that would be interesting as technically we'd be back in Orlando 3 weeks after for a cruise!
