I was just curious if anyone on the college board here is planning to volunteer with the Disney promotional program for this year (guessing CPs and CMs are not eligible). I checked the website, and there are a surprising number of various volunteer shifts available in my area! My sister and I are thinking of participating one day this semester, but we have no idea when we'd use our Disney day. :confused3 I heard that if you can't use it, you can donate the amount to charity instead? I'll have to look it up.

My college's newspaper ran an article last week discussing how the promotion was affecting volunteer programs in our area. Apparently the city had more people register to volunteer at a particular Martin Luther King, Jr., charity event than ever before! I know a lot of people just want a free ticket, but at least some are becoming more aware of volunteer opportunities around them.

Anyone here participating? And sorry if anyone has already opened a thread about this. :upsidedow

I am! My mom and I are doing the "give a day, Get a day" opportunity.
We're planning on using our ticket during October/November (Whenever the Audition is in Orlando for the CP). We're actually volunteering for something I did while in middle/high school and still volunteer for :)

I'm a fall 2010 hopeful, and if I get in, my family and I are going to do this. That way, I can go down early and we can all get in before I'm in the CP.

Actually, CM and CP's can participate. The same projects are available, they just have to access the website from the HUB instead. The big difference is that since CP and CM's already have free access to the parks they can give their free ticket to a friend or family member.

I volunteered on monday for the give a day, get a day. :) It was actually a lot of fun, even though it was pouring! My family and I collected food for the local food bank.
We're planning on doing the same thing coorsie, going down a couple of days early so we can have some fun in the parks before I move in.
Disney is doing a great job promoting volunteer work with this program. I already volunteer regularly in my community but I think this program will definitely encourage people to get involved and hopefully stay involved in their community.
