Anyone participate in the Disney Family Fun Run or kids races this year?

My son and I did the Family Fun Run 5K. He's 10, so he was too old for the kids' races. What did you want to know???

How difficult was it to find him at the end?

Did he recieve a medal or a t-shirt?

Where does the 5K couse run through?

We both got a T-shirt when we picked up our race package on the day before at the Marathon Expo. The 5K race is on the Saturday before the Marathon which is on Sunday. The 5K race started at about 7:30 AM (on Jan 10, next year it will be Jan 8). The marathon and 1/2 marathon started at 6AM. My son and I walked leisurely through the course. Started in the parking lot at Epcot. Walked through the back lot area behind Mission: Space and Test Track. Entered the park by the bathroom near Spaceship Earth. Walked counterclockwise around World Showcase, back to Spaceship Earth and then out of the park and back to the parking lot. There were no characters on the course only at the beginning and end. But since it took us 59:57 to complete, most of the characters including Brother Bear characters were at the little kid races that started at 8:30AM.

My husband did the 1/2 marathon, so he didn't want to do the 5K. Afterwards, he told me that he wished he had walked with us. We stopped a few times and took pictures or had our picture taken by CMs in the park.

You can register at the WDW Sports website. Look for marathon entry and you will find the 5K with it. The fee was $20 before Dec 24 (I think that was the date) and $25 after. There were people signing up the morning of the race. They had buses from the Disney resorts to the race start and back. After the race, the racers had access to bagels and fruit.

No medals, but the little kids got medals for participation (they didn't get T-shirts unless they signed up for the 5K).
