I'm deciding on taking car service or driving to JFK -- is it a pain to get from the parking lot to the Terminal (Delta) also we'll have two kids - could my husband drop us off with the luggage then take car to long-term parking? how much - how far does it take on the shuttle for parking to terminal?

thanx

lisa

We've done this before at JFK. We drove up to the Song terminal and checked our bags in with the skycaps and then all went and parked the car and then took the shuttle back. I would say that it took about 30-40 minutes from when we left the terminal to when we got back to the terminal on the shuttle.

One word of caution is that JFK has 3 long term lots so remember which one you parked in. This was the first time that we had ever flown out of JFK and had no idea that there were 3 lots until I started reading the signs at the baggage claim for the shuttle. Fortunately I got on the right bus. :thumbsup2

When we flew out of JFK last we long-term parked at AviStar. Very convenient, they have a shuttle to bring you to and from AviStar. Wasn't that expensive either.

Have also used Avistar at JFK. Very convenient and you can reserve a place ahead of time so no chance that the lot is full when you get there. Reserve early if you are traveling during a peak vacation period. You can do all this on their website.

FYI if you have a handicap license plate or placard you can park at JFK at the lots across from the terminals and be charged the long-term rate $15/day - normal rate is $30/day - (Avistar is $16.49/day plus $15/yr membership-waived first year) -

We have used the green lot across from Delta terminal 2-(with handicap license plate)- and there are more than adequate handicap spots even though their website says limited. It is just a very short walk to terminal 2 or 3.

Now I plan on doing this on our upcoming trip. But we will be in the yellow lot. Did you have to put your pass in the window. Those rates are amazing, aren't they? When we call we were told it would cost us 135. I was just a little worried about the spaces that would be available to use.

You dont HAVE to and - I guess - you could just park in a regular spot and bring the placard with you. Here's how it works. You enter the lot and take a card from the machine. Everybody gets the same one. Nobody knows or cares at this point if you have a placard or not. All it says is that to park in designated spaces you must have one and that is how it should be.

When you return and go to the exit you show the placard and get the lower rate.

Are you sure it is $30 a day. We parked at JFK longyterm parking last November and it was $ 15 a day. I can't believe it would have gone up that much is such a short time. LGA is $30 a day.

two different lots. Long term by Lefferts Blvd is $15/day. Short Term by terminals is $30/day but people with disabilities that have placard or license plates pay longt-term rate ($15/day) in the lots by the terminals.

another avistar fan here!! they'll even wash your car while you're away if you ask (and pay)... in winter, they will have it snow/ice free and in summer your a/c will be on when you get in... nice perks!
