Anyone Own/Has any opinions of Sheraton Vistana Resort?

This is not uncommon at all, in fact, many get it on SkyAuction for around $300/week in a 2BR...no reason to pay $900 in Maintenance fees! Yikes!

I hear ya Utahkennedys.......and then Vistana can't seem to understand why I don't want to purchase more time there.......they bug us every year to buy more when we check-in. It's so bad, that I've taken to unplugging the villa phones.

Thanks for confirming that the $900 is your regular MF. Wow.....I pay about $700. I am actually deeded at Vistana's Beach Club but have never stayed there. We were just assessed $1,000 in '05 too---to be paid over 4 years (so $250 extra on top of the regular MF every year). The upgrades at the Beach Club are very nice....but I'm just not sure how good a "trader" my week is. I'll have to try it sometime. Haven't traded in many years because we always like to vacation in Orlando (have several family members in the area we like to visit too).
Have you had good luck trading via SVN ? Is it difficult to get into places like Harborside ? I heard on TUG that it is.
The Lakes and Cascades, while they pay a hefty price, do have an advantage of trading through SVN. But the other sections at Vistana have to go through either II or RCI and I understand Orlando weeks are not strong traders. Like I said, we've only traded once to Williamsburg back in '98 or so. I wonder how much luck I'd have trying to get into Hawaii or similar.

That was a lot of helpful info about not buying in there. Not that I'm looking to right now, but I've told my dh it would be kinda nice in a few years to buy a timeshare some where. Those are definite things we'd have to look into. I sure wouldn't want to be buying into a place that people could rent cheaper than my maintenance fees. Oh, and thanks for those upgrade pictures! I'm so excited. I LOVE them. Maybe we'll get a new place when we go next year!!!
