I am driving down to Florida from Michigan on the 14th or 15th of May to arrive at Disney World. I am not driving anyone at the moment but would like to. If you are in Michigan or on the way from Michigan down to Florida. Let me know if you would like a ride. My email is lewan1rh@cmich.edu

We here at the Dis are a really friendly group, but this is not really a place to find a carpool buddy. I think the other reply was due to shock, and maybe being a little scared of the idea of sharing a long car ride with a total stranger. I know that I would never do that, and most others that frequent the Dis wouldn't either. If you have any questions or need any info, be sure to post them on the appropriate board, and I'm sure you will get tons of help! Everyone here loves to talk disney, and would be thrilled to help you plan a great trip to WDW!! :)

Oh, I see. Did I post this on the right board? Could I have found a different one? I know it would be weird driving down with a stranger but aren't I going to be roomed up with one?

I am not sure what you mean when you ask if you will be "roomed up" with a stranger? And no, there is not a board on the Dis for ride-sharing. Sorry!:cool2:

Looks like the OP might be in college - because of his email address. Maybe he is doing the college program?

I thought your offer was nice too. If it is the College Program, enjoy. Lots of fun times ahead of you.

While it's very nice of you to make an offer of a ride to WDW, the DIS boards probably aren't the place for it. I'm sure you have the very best of intentions but it's the kind of thing that may make people feel strange in this day and age.
If, in fact, you are in the CP, the best of luck to you. Be sure to be on the lookout for those lime green Mickey heads on people's bags so you can say 'hello' to a fellow DISer when you are in the parks/resorts!!!

I don't know why people are so weirded out by this post. Maybe it's because I am just out of college myself, but this seems like a perfectly appropriate place to offer a ride to Disney. It's not like you would just talk to the person via e-mail one time and expect to ride cross country with them, c'mon now. But, really, this isn't any different than someone posting this same thing on Craigslist except that this is a place where far more people will be likely to be going to the same place.

If I lived in Michigan and was going down the same time, I would totally take you up on the offer!

I can see how you feel this way, however, if the OP had given us far more information the responses would have been very different. He just needs to clarify that he is going to the college program and looking to share a ride with another student perhaps? That would explain everything. But if he is a total adult stranger new to the Dis, that is where the suspicion lies. We all need to be very careful these days.

I don't understand the responses, If you aren't interested don't reply. I think it is a good idea. We used to do it all the time. If he is a student having someone to share the gas with is a good idea. I shared rides a couple of times with people I just met and knew I wanted to share.

I'd try on the college board you will probably be greeted a little more friendly. Many posters forget being young and broke. Good luck finding someone. And if you are going for the college program have fun. My nephew did it and he had a great time. You'll be glad you have your car down there it makes it nice to get places other than Disney and even getting to work. gives you more flexibility.

You must be joking.
How about the issue of safety?
That goes for the driver as well as the passenger.

Why must we be joking just because we aren't shocked and scared of this ride share post? People post for rideshares ALL the time! If you aren't interested in sharing a ride with someone you don't really know, then don't do it. I am really amazed at how some people are reacting to this.

Okay...the OP has his email address listed so if anyone wants to take him up on the offer, they can. No need to hash out whether this is a good idea or not....so it's going to be closed. Thanks for your understanding.
