Anyone make gel candles?

I've make some that have so far turned out very nice. I'm planning to give them as Christmas gifts.

My question is that I can't get my embeds to "float" in the wax. I'm following directions that I have found online, but nothing seems to help. They just fall to the bottom.

They don't look bad, but I would like for them to float instead.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA!

I could be remembering wrong, but it seems to me I had to do something like pour a layer of gel and let it partially cool, then add the embed, and then pour the rest of the gel. The partially-cooled layer held the embed up off of the bottom. But again, I could be remembering that totally wrong, too; I haven't messed with making gel candles in proably 8-9 years or more. Are there lighter-weight embeds you could try?

Edit--forgot about this--you might also try asking over on the DIS Crafts forum. There might be someone there who's done this more recently than I have. :)

I used to do gel candles and the best way to 'float' the embed is to heat the embed and push it into place after the gel is set. Hold it there for a few seconds, then heat the gel to fill that gap where the tweezers were. Hope that works for you. :)
