Anyone made a "rollercoaster" at DQ?

Hi! Just wondering if anyone has ever made and then rode their own rollercoaster at DisneyQuest? My son (4 at the time) and I created one but he was not tall enough at the time to "ride" it. If anyone has ridden their creation, was it really cool? My kids want to do this on our trip in October. They are 6 and 8 and have never been on a coaster that goes upside down (although both want to try RRC this trip!) I suggested them designing coasters with no loops but wondered if this would be too intense even then. How much does this cost? Any info would be great! Thanks! Kathy :earsboy:

DQ is awesome! The virtual rollercoaster is fun. You can create one that is less intense. Unfortunately, even tho I can ride all rides at WDW, the Virtual Rollercoaster makes me sick as a DOG! Somehow the motion just does me in.

Virtual Space Mountain is great. The designing program give you every warning about making your ride calm or crazy. One of the last things it does is give you an overall rating of how adventurous your ride is. I'm sure they can make a ride that is tame.

One thing the simulator can't do is imitate acceleration. That might also make it better for kids, as the simulator will rotate up and down over hills and rock left and right.

There is no additional cost for the virtual roller coaster at DQ, it is part of the admission price. My DS (just turned 15) made one last month that registered a 5 on the ratings (5 being the most intense). The CM who take of care of us couldn't remember anyone else getting a 5. Anyway, I told him to do whatever he wanted since I was just going to stay outside and watch. He had a lot of airtime with his ride. I do suggest anyone considering this do it early in the day. DQ as a whole gets pretty crowded a few hours after opening. The virtual roller coaster gets backed up fast since there are a limited number of simulators for the riders.

DS and I love creating our own coasters @ DQ and always aim for the "5" rating. You can buy a video of you riding your coaster which we always do. DS takes it to school for show & tell. DH can only ride the "fives" about twice and his head starts to feel a little "loopy" (pun)!

It is really cool, however, even though you think you are creating a really intense ride, DH and I found ours was quite tame for how it looked (it was only a 3 rating, 5 being the highest).

Definitely worth a go. They have something similar at Wonderworks on I-Drive as well and Wonderworks is great.

Yeah, I thought I'd be cool and program as many loops as possible into the ride. Then once the ride started, I realized I got motion sickness on simulators (but not on roller coasters themselves). So, let's just say that the ride was one of the worst ever for me. My wife loved it and wanted to go again, but I said I would throw up on her if we did.

I think I was sick the rest of the day after that one... :faint:

For my 40th Birthday I made a level 5 (A lot of upside down on it too) and then the cst member asked me if I wanted to do a level 5 he created and likes and I did it back to back. I was almost sick after the second ride and I never get sick on anything except tea cups spinning super fast.

Now I am afraid I am going to get sick! For people who get sick on simulators, do you still get sick even if it doesn't go upside-down? Can you just make a tame one, or is it the whole simulator experience that makes you sick?

Yeah, for whatever reason, I get sick on any motion simulator. I'd like to do the Star Wars ride and Mission Space, but there is no way I'll be able ot do it.

Anybody know if Dramamine helps much?

Any simulator makes me sick, and the DQ one was no exception! I thought I would be OK with only 1 loop, but it ruined a good part of my day.

We did the same thing as a previous poster - added lots of loops to attempt a "5". Bad idea :rolleyes2 Before we got on, a CM told us if we wanted a 5 they could just give you a 5 (we only managed a 4 and I wanted to know what it took to get a 5) - lol! I didn't need to hit the red button to make it stop, but it was close... DH was just fine, by-the-way.

So the next visit we tried no loops, and that was better for me. Only a 2, but at least I did't end up sick ;)

I only added 1 loop and 1 corkscrew but even those did me in. Tack on someone's hair brush and loose change flying around and it was a real treat :)

DW and I did it a few years ago and it was fun. Although afterwards we thought it was a little tame but we were erring on the side of caution since we didn't quite know what to expect.

CyberSpace Mountain is the whole reason I go to DQ. DH isn't into the simulator thing, so he designs them & I ride them. He doesn't let me watch while he's designing & he tries to make them too intense for me, but he hasn't made one yet that I couldn't handle (and they're almost all 5's) :)

Dear God, I nearly barfed on this one. :faint:

Like others have said, don't use a bunch of 5s.

This ride doesn't make me sick, I always do level 5 rides. This is one of my favorite things to do at DQ.

My Ds and kids had a blast. I, on the other hand, made a coaster of all level 1 stuff. No loops, no big hills...really boring. But I knew before hand that I don't do simulators well. I had to use the stop button mid-ride and threw up as I got off. The barf bags are nice though!

DH and DD love to do Cyber Space Mountain.

Last year they achieved their "5" (they only obtained 2 "4"s the year before).

Neither one was ill after the ride. The funny part is ---

We all love roller coasters. I can ride anything out there - but the simulators and "movies" in the round make me sick to my stomach so I never do this.

Last year I was waiting by the simulators when this guy walked up and said -
see those 2 - they have a "5" there is no way that girl will be smiling when they get out (he did not know it was my DH and DD). Needless to say she was smiling ear to ear when they got off - the man almost fainted.

The video is pretty good too - my DD loves it.

She was 8 at the time and DH was 40.
