My fiancee has just text me as shes over there and says most of the food places are shut like hakuna matata

because its low season - they don't employ their larger volume of staff until around the end of June.

Does that mean hakuna Matata will be shut at the start of June? If it is I might cry. Already the 2 rides I was so looking forward to are going to be closed for the duration, but if the one place I wanted to eat is closed to it will really put a downer on the trip :(

It was open when we went at the beginning of June last year and it was open in March when we went a few weeks ago. We nearly ate there as so many of the other restaurants and CS places were closed.

When not all the counter service restaurants are open, they tend to rotate them (so one day it might be Hakuna Matata thats open, the next it might be Fuente del'Oro, or Colonel Hathis etc etc).
The only way to know for sure is to pass the restaurant around or after 11.30am, as thats when the counter service restaurants tend to open for lunch. If theres a menu posted on the board outside the restaurant, its open that day. If theres no menu, the poster on the board will tell you the restaurant is closed, and sometimes theres a list on the poster of cs restaurants which are open instead.

eta - don't wait much after 5pm to have dinner in the counter service restaurants either - a lot of them close at this time or shortly afterwards, regardless of how late the park is open until, out of high summer season. We got caught a couple of nights last June, trying to get something to eat in the park at around 8pm (park closed at 11pm) and ended up in the Cafe Hyperion because the cs restaurants in Fantasyland and Frontierland were all closed by then.

Good to know this as wouldnt of thought of it when we go in JUNE.
Would of been trailing round at bout 8/9pm trying to find somewhere to eat!!
What about main street and Caseys though? Was that open later do you know?

yes, Caseys was open every evening (I think probably Market House Deli too).

you'd have to phone Disney dining and ask them - they may not be open every evening for dinner.

When it comes to counter service places I tend to pop into City Hall each morning and ask them to write down which places are open that day and at what times. It saves a lot of trailing round, uncertainty and grumpiness!
