My family went a couple 2 years ago to WDW and were told if we sat through a session we would get fastpasses. Anyone know if that is still going on, or what they are offering to sit through presentation???? We are interested in becoming members, but am interested in the giveaway for this next trip in 2 weeks...

It seems to vary from day to day. It might be fastpasses, it might be a gift card, it might just be ice cream at the end of the tour.

Unless you really have an interest in seeing the BLT layout, etc, I wouldn't bother to go sit through the tour just in hopes you get something.

If you are really considering becoming a DVC member i would forget the gift for going through the tour and save some money on possibly considering a resale

Truth be told, we'll be there during Thanksgiving week, and I was trying to see about day long fastpasses for our last day of the vacay at MK... the day after Thanksgiving...ugh
I would only sit through it, knowing ahead of time I was getting the fastpass. The day after turkey day at MK, I'm anticipating as being a mob scene, so yeah, a fastpass would be good for all the rides that day.;)

Unless something has changed I don't think there are day long fastpasses....when we received them for doing the tour they were for 3 rides

I have not read one post from any DISer that stated the fastpasses are good for "all the rides" that day. From what I've read...each FP has been good for about 3 rides (one time use only).

And the Fast Passes are usually only good if the regular Fast Pass machines are still open. That means morning and early afternoon.

Well maybe that was just when we visited 2 years ago, for the all day fast pass (only for that 1 day). They were really pushing the sales. They were giving away free disney cruises if you bought certain plans.

Yes, the DVC fast passes are still given if you go to a sales pitch. They are good for 3 rides as long as all of the FP have not been given away for the day. Note to members, if you are lucky enough to do the "member event" at TOWL at BLT, you also get the FP, in addition to lanyards, DVC bags, pins (that are going for $80 on E-bay) snacks and drinks and prizes. Our guide called us during our last trip in Oct and we went. It was about 75 minutes and well worth it! you do need to call your guide (unless your guide calls you) and make a reservation. Usually ressies must be made at least 2 days in advance.

Wait, I'm confused.....are you interested in becoming members as stated in post #1 or ONLY want to sit through it for fastpasses as stated in your second post?

I think they do want to become DVC members at some point, but the main intent of going for a tour is just to get fastpasses.

I'm also thinking, since they already did one tour and didn't purchase that any new tour is going to be less involved (they will have record) and possibly less likely to get anything additional beyond the ice cream.

Not that it really matters, but we didn't sit through the presentation before. They were trying to talk us into sitting through it, and were telling us about the fastpass option up front to get us in the door. We found out about it 1 1/2 days before we were to leave WDW, and did not want to waste our last day sitting through the pitch. This was 2/09 and was remembering how eager they were to get people in the door. We were waiting for our Chef Mickey's ressie, and were approached by a sales person. They told us about the fastpasses and the disney cruise thing if we bought certain plans.

My wife and I toured BLT in February and didn't get squat for it. Unless you count a hard sell ("this incentive will only last until the end of your trip, if you wait until after that, you'll pay full price"), and dubious information ("don't even consider buying SSR resale, it's a lousy resort; the treehouse villas are for people who enjoy being swarmed by bugs and snakes").

And that's why I went and bought a VWL resale contract. They can keep the fastpasses, hats and ice cream.
