When we were at MGM this past week---I think it was Monday or Tuesday we went over to Rockin' Roller coaster shortly before the park closed and they wouldn't even let you back into that area. A CM told us that it was shut down. Then she said it was evacuated. They walked us back to the queuing area because I wanted to measure my daughter to see if she was 48 inches yet. They were very hesitant about doing that but finally one of the three standing there said, "I'll take them back." She didn't have on a regular uniform...??? On our way back out there were 2 young girls sitting along the wall. They asked us what was going on. Told us their friends had gone into the ride and hadn't come out yet. They had been in the store and said that people started yelling for everyone to "get out." So it must have truly been an evacuation. Well, this is just "killing" my son!! He is 11 and has ridden it before but is VERY safety conscience. I don't know if I'll get him on again! He witnessed all of this! He keeps asking me if I know what really happened. Anyone know???? :bitelip:

Sorry I don't know what happened this week but we were at MGM on December 31th and RNR was closed on and off for most of the day. We were able to ride it once but it broke down while we were in the pre-boarding area. They quickly ushered us out and as we walked through the boarding area several CM's were manually pushing cars back to the loading area. There were no people in any of the cars. The CM jokingly told us to "pretend we didn't see anything."

That's interesting; now I'm curious to know what happened, even though I wasn't there! (I haven't been since last summer...sad, I know!!)

DS rode it many times between 1/2 and 1/6, didn't mention anything unusual to me. I'll ask him again next time he calls.

Since they seem to have evacuated the entire bldg, I would guess maybe a silent fire alarm was triggered and the computers shut down the ride. This happened to us during a Millionaire show. The systems are sensitive, even an overheated light can trigger the alarm. They had to wait for the fire department to find out what triggered it and then reset the alarm.

Whatever it was, it must not have made news headlines because I just checked coasterbuzz.com and there is nothing about it there - they list all news related to Roller Coasters, Amusement parks, etc....

Chuck, this also happened to us at Millionaire. I forgot if we were there during the same timeframe--we were at WDW Dec 1-14 and the Millionaire show that we got evacuated from was 12/10 I think.

Hmm...I wonder if we were in the same show? I think it was the first show of the day, the guy in the hotseat was doing well...I wonder how far he actually made it. Did you see a big blond guy with his Mom in a wheelchair? That was us.

Ahh i hope its not broken. When i went 2 years back it was constintally down. Ahh im going there in 2 months *prays its working* Thats our favorite ride :moped:

DD and I were the last ones to ride RNR on New Years Eve before they shut it down and closed the gates. It was so bumpy our heads kept hitting the back of the seat. Both of us had to take Motrin after the ride for our headaches!

The back seat are bumpy, not the front I find.

A lot of time, shut down is becuz, yes clean up ... sicknesses .... but an evacuation ... hmmm what happened???

OOOOH :earseek: That is HIGHLY unusual. RnR is known to be very smooth.

I do think it was the first show of the day. We were also in the wheelchair section, even though my mom was out of her chair. There was my mom, me, my son who was almost 5yo, my sister, and my BIL. My sister and I were probably chatting away, assuming that we could get a word in edgeways with my son...

Oh, and we came out after the evac to find that the rain had started.

Oh how funny! Were you the folks next to us, that noticed I was number 3 in the overall ranking when they showed some of the audience rankings?

The same thing happened to me! My head kept hitting the back of the seat and my body wouldn't stay in one spot. My upper body kept moving forward then back and to the side. I had to go back to the hotel after I rode the ride because I got the worst migraine.

Wow! I think RnRC is a very smooth ride. I have ridden it front, center & back & never had the slightest bit of banging.....

I was in the back but I don't understand why I got thrown around so much. Maybe it's because I'm very small for a 20 year old, I'm only 4' 11" and 84 lbs so maybe that had something to do with it. I'm not sure but I do know that I hung on really tight!

i was wondering if anyone knew what happened--this happened to use on monday the 10th..it was like 6:30...we were next in line and was ushered out really quick..im nosey so i wnated to know what happened!
