Anyone know of a good LEGAL movie downloading site?

I know that the new thing is downloading all your entertainment from your computer.

There's a movie a friend of mine who is visiting wants to see. She's only here a few more days and we literally live in the middle of nowhere, so there's no movie rental place less than 20 minutes away. And the closest is NOT a good place. So I thought I would just download it online.

The problem is, I can't find one where you can just download ONE movie. You have to sign up for a plan where you pay a certain amount of money per month. Plus, I don't know which sites I can trust.

Does anyone know of a SAFE and GOOD movie downloading site where maybe I can just download one movie? Thanks!

This site is a guide to legal movies online. If you have an X-Box 360, a Roku player, certain TiVo players or a PS3 (coming soon) you can stream Netflix directly to your Television (check model compatibility first). There are also televisions on the market that have web browsers or widgets built in. I would recommend spending some time on cNet getting familiar with all the options. This doesn't fit your ONE movie scenario but is good info.

The web and television are converging so this is getting easier and easier.

We download movies from movies from amazon.com

We usually download about 1 per week from their "sale" section for about $2 each. The last one we saw was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

You can see if hulu.com has the movie. Hulu is free.

Netflix, you need to have some kind of subsription. The cheapest is $4.99/month. So even if you had an XBox 360, you wouldn't be able stream netflix unless you were a member.

You can pay for the movie to download through ITunes. Check to see if the movie is on Hulu....that's your best bet for free.

Yea but the selection of "watch instantly" movies on Netflix is really lacking, don't you think?

Amazon is a great place to legally download anything - movies, music, etc.

Yes, but Amazon is more expensive (per hour, of the things that they both have).
