I'm not too hooked on the Disneyland vacation planners cakes, Im all about taste, and not alot of people had good stuff to say about them.:confused3 So since we'll have our cars, Im wondering if there is a good bakery near by, that I could order a YUMMY cake from. Anyone in the Anaheim area know?

A small bakery sort of thing, or just something that isn't as much as DL? :)

If it's the the latter, I for one am planning on an order from or a visit to the Von's nearby, b/c I LOVE the Safeway cakes and goodies. (and when I look at vons.com, the selection seems to be the same as from my local Safeways, so it seems it's all about the same)

I have nothin' for the former. :)

Safeway and Von's are the exact same company, they continue to use the von's name in So Cal, because it had name recognition from when they purchased the company.

oh yes i know, but that doesn't always mean that bakeries 2 states away will sell the exact items.

(knew my wording was bad in that post...typing onehanded i can focus on content or capitalization, but not both, it seems!)

and it was from you that i learned of the location, thank you...with so many people ordering, and no one ever mentioning a shopping trip, i had figured there were no grocery stores nearby, until you mentioned it!

Molly, by any chance do you have any idea of how far the Von's might be from the DL hotel? I LOVE their cakes, so I am thinking that this is the best way to go.

There are some stores that might even be closer, but I went to one back behind the convention center, and it was a little scary at night. They had a guard and such. The one on lincoln is newly remodled and in a nice area.

And as an FYI, with any safeway owned store they will be almost exactly the same, down to the location of items in the stores. I worked for them for 6 years.

Master Mason, how far is the Von's on Lincoln? I called and kept getting transferred to different departments, and then finally got hung up on. lol. I called back and the girl said about 20 minutes, is this correct?

no, not even close. I would say 5 miles or so to get to lincoln which crosses harbor.

Just go to vons.com to the store locator, and it will show you.

And if you need $50 worth of food, cake included, you can order through vons.com. And since I know you do SR ;), there's a vons.com link there for something like 1.25 credits, if you order through that link.

Of course, you might have to pay shipping depending on if you get a shipping code when you sign up, which erases the SR credit, but if you don't want to GO shopping, you might as well!

The Grand California Hotel by Disney does some pretty good things, and if you give the bakery a set idea they can come up with something amazing in site as well as taste.. The generic cakes I would imagine arent that good since they are like chuckie cheese already made up.

It's about 2 1/2 miles from DLR. Straight up Harbor Blvd then east on Lincoln one block. I'd say 5-10 minutes.
