Anyone know how to get a strong chemical odor out of jeans?

I bought DS three pair of black jeans. Wrangler and Cherokee brands. They stink! They have a very strong chemical smell, even after washing. Anyone know how to get rid of the smell?

Try Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator. It's not the regular spray bottle that you spray on clothing. You add a capfull of this stuff to the washing machine. It's pricey, but it works so much better than plain vinegar or baking soda.

I had some like that once. I washed them a couple of times and then put them outside in the sunshine for about a week. That took care of the smell.

I was just watching an old episode of House, MD. Brand new jeans were accidentally doused with pesticides, on the truck delivering them.

Ditto, washing them a couple times, and leaving in plenty of fresh air.

good question! My DD has a pair also black that still smell after a lot of washings. They have gotten better but they still have a distinctive odor to them. It must be certain dyes. my best remedy has been a lot of fabric softener AND a dryer sheet in the dryer, helps some but still there.

I would try washing them and adding a lot of vinegar to the final rinse.
