Anyone know anything good/bad about Spirit Airlines?

Looking to fly from Chicago O'Hare to Orlando.

I have flown Spirit a few times. They are fine. BUT.

The fare you see on their website is misleading. They charge for luggage, either carry on or checked bags, so it is impossible to avoid. (unless this has changed). AND they charge to pick your seat assignment. So, add up all the fees when you compare airfares....... I did not know about the seat assignment charge, I had never hard of that before.

It's an airline desogned for short people . . . it has the least legroom of any line.

Pat nailed it - their low fares are based on a LOT of fees that add up later on. On airfare alone, they're usually the cheapest flying from DTW to MCO, but when you take their baggage policies with checked and carry-on charges, seat assignment fees, and even the charge for water/juice/soda in flight into account, they're almost always more expensive than Airtran and often more than Delta as well.
