Hi ,

I've not been on the dis for at least a couple of years as I knew I couldn't get to wdw .
We have been renting out our DVc points but are considering going early 2015. The biggest expense is always the flights - too get a good price you have to book 11 month out- but then you have to pay straight away

It would be good if we could find a travel agent that would book them as we could spread the cost

Anyone have any ideas?

Thomas Cook book Virgin Holidays and Virgin Cruises (as well as DCL) so maybe they'd book flight only with Virgin and let you pay the deposit and the remainder 12-16 weeks before the day of travel? Worth a phone call to your local branch at least.

I'm going back a few years now, but I've booked flights only through Thomas Cook

I've booked BA flights only through Thomas Cook and VA with them as part of a signature package It's some years ago now so not sure if they still do it.

Sorry about previous post. I can't edit on my phone.

Could you pay on a credit card and switch the balance to a 0% interest one?

I think that to avoid paying in full you need to make it a package - could you book it with car rental maybe?

Thanks for your replies - I've been looking this morning and found Thomson have a good price on Dreamliner plane and that's with premium seats - so thinking that could be an option - has anyone been on one before?

not one that you can walk into , but Charter Travel book Virgin flights with a deposit only. We have used them a few times with no problems.

I know others have differing opinions but I don't find best prices 11 months out anymore.
You could be better saving up your money and waiting. We are booked for July & Sept, booked them both in January when they were at a low.
VA return I paid just over £600pp now over £700 (over £800 before I booked, even at 11 months out)
TC one way I paid just over £200pp, now £350

Just found the TC one way flight for £179, only 2 month from flying, these were over £400pp 11 months out.

Hi,

We've not been on yet (August-woop woop) but friends have, and all positive reports.

May I just ask-what constitutes a good price with Thomson-as I've not found one?!

Also, you can book flydrive in store with thomsons-you could just take the cheapest option & then book your own car separately.
If you book flydrive rather than flight only-deposit is permitted.:goodvibes

Hi the price was just under £900 pp in premium cabin - which compared to virgin PE was 400 cheaper.
We don't drive so didn't think about booking a fly drive -

If you can wait till nearer the time, you might get a better deal. I booked virgin flights with lastminute.com 2 months before our trip for £480 each. That's from edinburgh too, so I was really pleased. We go the last week of June and I did also visit travel agents and they weren't able to match those prices.

Good luck with your planning.

Rachel :)

That's not too bad for pe.

We've booked a flydrive with virgin before-and simply not taken the car-
For the very reason,we wouldn't have to pay out all at once.

A few years ago tc would take deposit in store for flights-but the last time we booked online as they would only book 7/14/21 nights-and we went for 17.

Last year,we paid a kings ransom (too much game of thrones!!) With Thomson in April-to fly this August-and then prices dropped-as you can possibly tell-still not quite over it.:upsidedow

Thank you for all your help.

Today we booked our tickets for late April 2015 flying on thomson Dreamliner in premium cabin :thumbsup2

:cool1:
