Anyone know a topical remedy to get rid of skin tags?

My insurance covered removal, no questions asked. But mine were big and annoying (and one was under my arm and would sometimes get cut when I shaved ). They can be painful when rubbed or pulled, so there's no reason (IMHO!) they should be considered a purely cosmetic procedure.

I don't know why this cracked me up, but I got a mental image of all these little ribbons hanging off various parts of your body. Of course, I'm also laughing because I've got tons of them and can't imagine leaving anything tied to a bunch of them for days on end, maybe because many of mine are on my neck area, so it would be very obvious to everyone.

And I have to admit, I'm at the idea of cutting them off myself.

The one I picked was on my stomach. Of course if it doesn't work I don't know how we will get the string off cause he cut it so short, theres no little end on it. So I may end up with a little ribbon-tied skin tag.
And yeah, I thought about him just snipping the whole thing with the scissors but I get queasy thinking about that. I try to avoid pain at all costs!

I use those manicure scissors to cut any off that I find. It doesn't hurt. I would hate to make a trip to my dr just for him to cut it off in seconds.

After reading through this thread, that's what I did last night.

Only thing is, it kind of has to be one that is large enough to get a hold of with my left hand and cut with my right hand. Some of my skin tags are just too small to cut off.

Well maybe if you don't know he's going to cut if off... You could always point him to this thread and let him draw his own conclusions.

I guess along the same lines as the string idea, but if you've got a steady hand and the skin tag is easily accessible, you can use a pair of nail clippers. Just make sure you're not pinching your skin when you squeeze those suckers! It honestly doesn't hurt if you do it right!

This is what my mom did and it worked. It hurts for a bit and will bleed some. Make sure to apply Neosporin or Bacitracin antibiotic ointment afterward.
