We're staying at Universal the whole week we're in Orlando, and I really want to avoid getting on I-4 if at all possible!! Is there any shortcut from universal to disney that avoids I-4?? Thank you!!

There are a couple of good back ways if you really want to avoid I4.. One that comes to mind, is to take Vineland west to Turkey Lake Road and then make a left and head south on Turkey Lake Road. (Vineland intersects 435 and is on the North Side of Universal property) You can follow Turkey Lake Road south to Sand Lake Road and at Sand Lake make a right turn heading west again. Take that to Apopka-Vineland road and make a left heading south. If you follow Apopka-Vineland Road you will come up on the east side of Disney World Right by Downtown Disney. You can make a left into Disney World on Hotel Plaza Blvd and follow the signs from there. Check it out on MapQuest or another mapping site first though so you can see the way I am suggesting as it is pretty much all through residental areas, but on major roads with speedlimits from 45 to 55...

To make this even easier...just stay on Turkey Lake, it now goes all the way down and connects with Palm Parkway. You can take it all the way to 535 right where the Sheraton Safari is. Take the left on 535 and turn into Disney at Hotel Blvd. Best thing is after you get past Sand Lake, there are only two traffic lights till you hit Palm Parkway and 535.

Thanks for that info kylara, I wasn't aware that Turkey Lake went through. I will be sure to use that way on our next trip!

There are 3 red lights on Hotel Plaza Blvd. If I-4 is really backed up and you go through Hotel Plaza you can save a ton of time. It is sometimes always easier to go the Turkey Lake route. I don't know if you cell phone will be able to make the call but if you dial 511 and ask for the attractions area you will get a traffic report from the Florida Turnpike to the Polk county line.
