Anyone keeping the Dreams part a surprise from those travelling w/ you?

DH and I are going to WDW in Oct. While he knows about the castle giveaway, he doesn't know about all the other elements of the YoaMD. Trust me..he doesn't!!

While I know odds are we won't get a Dream, I just thought it would be more fun to keep it all hush hush in case one does happen. That way it just adds more to the magic!

Anyone else not saying a word? hehe

Hello there,

I am taking my little sister (age 10) in august and she has no clue about the trip to Disney (she has never been before) On her birhday (in July) she will get the surprise (I hope of a lifetime).

Not telling her about the prize giveaways is a nice surprise too, just imagine we are online to Splash Mountain and something happens, that would be cool. I won't hold out for something big, just something to make her trip a little more special.

When we went in Feb we were the (extremely) lucky winners of the Castle Suite stay. We travelled with 7 of us (me, DH, twin DS 7, DS 2, MIL, and FIL). While I knew all about YOMD, including the uniforms for the Dream Team and all the giveaways, I didn't discuss it with anyone else. The boys knew about the YOMD from the TV commercials but didn't say much about it since they were just excited to be going to Disney. I didn't tell my IL's about it cause it's not something they would "get". I didn't talk it up because I didn't want anyone to be dissapointed when we didn't win anything - we never win things in this family. Ever. I figured being in Disney was enough.

Even I forgot about the whole YOMD for the most part when we were there. The only times I gave it a thought was when I was saying "it should be me" when the previous day's castle winners were riding by in the 3pm parade, and when I saw the DT surrounding my MIL. And then we won.

And when I say that my IL's wouldn't "get it", my MIL thought the DT were actually some kind of photography scam! So it took a long time thru the winning process for them to actually get that it was a good thing. There would have been no way to explain that in advance!

Beth--I actually read you post about winning the Castle stay. I can't even imagine how exciting that must have been. So happy for you and your family.

I just think it is fun to keep it a secret if the other person has no idea. If we were to be lucky to win anything, it would be fun to see his extra shocked face!

He already looked at me weird today when he saw me mailing some postcards for the contest! hehehe

Aside from telling the other adults in our party to NOT refuse a castle stay, I am not telling them anything. It will be hard not to keep myself from being disappointed if we dont win a dream, I dont want others to be disappointed too.

My kids have NO CLUE! they are THRILLED to spend 10 days in Disney, if we happen to win anything of course I would be SO EXCITED but the Disney magic won't be effected if we don't. I would hate to tell my kids about it, not have them win anything and be disappointed.

My elder DD, 16, said her Dream would be to goto La Nouba. I have tickets - but she is unaware. My plan is to have the waiter/waitress at Ohana hand her an envelope with the tix - it'll come across as a Dream, or at least, I hope it will.
