Im wondering if we have anyone on the boards that may be interested in a beach trip to Gulf State Park in Alabama this summer. Its a great campground on the beach and would be a great place for some friends to get together and spend some down time relaxing.

the best sites on the lake run about $30 a day(IIRC) and are humongus!

If anyone's interested, or has a suggestion of another great campground in the south that would be a good place for us to meet up...please post......lets see if we can get a "redneck round-up" for this summer.

I'd probably be interested in that one!!

We might be interested, have to be a long weekend for us, I pulled it up on mapquest and it is about 7 1/2 hrs from us, but it is a posability.

I am in. Will be at FW May 26-June 10, but other than that, I am open.

Heres a picture of our site from the last time we were there...there is so much room behind the pads...this was one of my favorite State Parks so far!!

I'm in! That's only 4 - 4 1/2 hours! If DH doesn't come, will someone help me set up the 5'er? Otherwise, I'll have to bring the tent:scared1:

Do they have tent sites? Or, like LA state parks, can you put the tent in the grass next to the pad?

I'm interested!
we went to Fort Pickens on Pensacola Beach. It is Beautiful! It was opened for the first since Ivan 4 years ago with water & electric for maybe 4 week. Then came Ida. It's $20.00 a night on a *****ula so you have the gulf on one side and bay on the other side. I was having camera issues so you have to take my word it was pretty! It's closed know I'm not sure for how long but from what I here I don't think it will take them a long time to clean things up after Ida.

Its funny, the other day we were discussing where the DW wanted to go if the kids didn't come from Va over Thanksgiving. Not ten min before I saw this post she said "how bout Gulf Shores?" Now she's had me researching it and it looks good. June would be good for us to get together with the Fiends.

Heck, with DH and son going hunting over the long New Years weekend, I've thought of driving to the panhandle then! There just has to be other hunting widows out there:sad2:

Depends on when it is. Definately interested, but that's a 26 hour drive for us...so timing is everything. May just have to stick with a Gettysburg and Pigeon Forge trip, but I would love to bring the kids to some different places and experience the country. Now while they still don't mind being around us.;)

Has anyone started talking about a Pigeon Forge trip yet? I would really like to do that as a group also...John mentioned it to me recently, but didnt have any definates yet.

Sandi...I dont think they have specific tent sites...bu8t, yes...there were quite a few tents pitched at the regular sites last time I was there....as a matter of fact....as big as the areas are behiond the lake sites...you may not even need to actually pay for a site, I may be able to have a tent as well as my popup on a site..and you'd be welcome to that if they allow it.

Don't know how Denise feels bout it,, but I would LOVE to take my big ol redneck butt to L.A. (lower Alabama)
I'd really like to get me in sum time fish'n frum sum peers ontha big wet blue,
We'z haint fish'd salt water inna spail .

Course at this point, we'd just havta see if we could make it when the time came.

Alabama fishing licences are UNFRIGGINBELIEVABLY EXPENSIVE....but for the same price as a license, I went out on a party charter(about $65/person) and caught several redsnapper, but they werent in season and I had to release them...it was a nice 4 hour trip and Ive been wanting to do it again. Redsnapper season opens June 1st/closes mid-August...and I know alot of folks are saving June for the Gettysburg trip...July 4th will be crazy at any campground, so, Im "thinking" maybe anywhere from July 9th up to August 15th. Unless there are enough folks who'd like to do it instead of Gettysburg, but I sure dont want to put a damper on that trip. I wish I could make Gettysburg, but 1200 miles in a seated position will break my back!

Richie just said that we might have to go up there on business this summer, so we could incorporate both at the same time. I have never been to Alambama.
We would also be interested in Pigeon Forge we love that area, and when we didn't have a MH always rented a house in that area.

Did I tell you that I have some salt water poles that are suitable for pier fishing,,an some salt water lures, hooks etc. All we'd need is a license an we could fish everyday , :woohoo:

But I gotta admit, I do like party boat fish'n too,

Gulf Shores is our favorite place to go We have a boat down there that I would be glad to take 6 people at a time out for some fishing. Red Snapper will be thick but we can fish around them and bring some back to the dock. Let me know when the dates get firmed up.
