Anyone in Vero that can help?

A friend of mine is MIA since Wilma. She is a search and rescue person herself, and ALWAYS calls on her satellite phone after a storm, in fact I am her designated first point of contact to let people know she's OK. I filed a H&W with the Salvation Army, but I'm beginning to get frantic.

She and her husband were going to ride the storm out in a fairly isloated commercial building where very likely no one would bother to look for anyone who might be stuck in a flood or under a collapsed building for several days.

If anyone in that area would be able to help me out by checking on them, I'd appreciate it. PM me for details.

Are you sure she may not be involved with search and rescue at the moment? I know they are having flooding issues in Cocoa and brought in airboats.

She has always called me immediately after (heck, sometimes even DURING!) every storm for the past four years. LIke I said, I'm her first point of contact--she gets a message to me and I relay it to all her other friends and family that she's OK. She has not contacted any other friends either. She always gets in touch with me, even to just say "we're OK".

My brother lives in Vero Beach.. I've been trying to contact him all week and so far, no luck.. I checked the newspaper and it seems there are large power outtages, but I haven't been able to get much more information than that..

If I hear from him, I'll PM you for details as to where your friend was headed..

Hi Anne!

Just wanted to let you know that I got an email from my brother a little while ago.. They're fine - just had their power restored.. That's the good news..

The bad news is that my brother's boat was damaged again - 3rd time from hurricanes - and it's severe enough to warrant a claim.. He's thinking they'll probably cancel his insurance now.. They just finished the repairs in June from one of the hurricanes last year!

Thanks again for your offer to have him checked on..
