We have a very active youth group but not so much for the 6th graders. They are in Middle school here but not quite ready to be put into the group with the older teens KWIM?

We're trying to get things going as we have a lot of incoming 6th graders.

Does anyone have any ideas on who to do this? We have a fantastic youth pastor and he has some ideas of course but he is looking for more.

Most of the churches around here have middle school programs. We haven't been involved in them yet so I don't know what they do. They have programs for 6-8th graders and then the 9-12 graders have different programs. I do know that many of the middle school programs focus on social activities, movie nights, lock-ins, dodgeball tournaments, field trips, etc. and then incorporate spiritual information into those activities in various methods. Middle schoolers crave social interaction and it seems like a good way to get them to come.

I've done it for a few years. We will be getting a new youth pastor soon, so I'll have to see how they want to do it.

But lately since we haven't had that many 6th graders they combined 4th -6th graders. Last year though there were tons of 5th graders so they may actually do something with the 6th graders separately.

yeah see here theyve taken the 6th graders right out of the childrens program and plopped them into the teen group.

Thats whats hard about it.

I need to try to figure out what activities we can do and what would help unite them. We want almost a seperate program for them.

Thanks for the ideas :)
