Anyone here live in Winston-Salem?

Hoping someone from WS can help me find a place!

My DH and I lived in WS years ago, 1996-1999. We lived off of North Point Blvd and University Parkway in an apartment complex across the street from North Point Jeep. There was a wonderful american resturant right up the road from us that we used to go to every weekend. It was at the next intersection and to the right. The place was on the left side of the road. It was two stories and the top floor was open to the bottom. Lots of neat things inside, great food and atmosphere. We can remember exactly how it looks and where it is, but we can't remember the name of it to save our lives!

Well, we have decided to move back to WS in a few years when DD graduates from high school and we were wondering if that resturant is still there.

I have tried googling everything I can possibly think of to find it, but no dice.

Anyone know what I am talking about??

Was it Darryl's? It is no longer there, but a Google search has it's address as 4675 Brownsboro Rd, Winston-Salem, NC, 27106, which is right off University, close to the North Point intersection. One reopened in Greensboro a few years ago, but I think that's the only one open in NC. Here's their website:

ETA: I remember the one in Winston Salem being a two story building, but I'm not sure if I ever ate there. I usually ate at the one in Greensboro when I went to Darryl's. They're also on Facebook and they have a Discussion page where they talk about the former restaurants, with two being listed in Winston Salem; Darryl's 1880 and Darryl's 1913 (the one on University):

OMG!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Yes, that is it! I am so bummed they are no longer in WS, but GSO is not too far away, so we will be hitting that a lot. Hopefully they are still around when we finally move back!

Hey no problem! I'm just glad I was right, lol. And I'm glad they're also back in Greensboro, although I wish they'd come back to WS. Who knows, maybe they will in time.

And the funny thing -- I read your directions and was thinking in my head "OK, I'm going down North Point, turning right onto University, and then a left -- oh yeah, that was Darryl's!" LOL! So you gave good directions and I could "see" the restaurant in my head. Glad I could answer your question correctly and that you had good memories eating there.
