Anyone here have Gout?

I've been diagnosed with it. It's such a stinkin annoying thing. Anyone else in the same boat?

What exactly is gout? My DH's doctor told him he was the perfect candidate to get gout, but then she never told him what he should do to avoid it. I heard he shouldn't eat any sausage, bacon or drink any beer or asprin...he's safe there because he doesn't have any of that. Of course he never asked what exactly gout is.
