Anyone heard that Tmobile is forcing Grandfathered plans to move to new Simple Choice

I've been reading on the internet about TMobile forcing people with Grandfathered classic talk/text/web plans to switch to a prepaid Simple Choice plan. I guess Tmobile no longer has contract plans. Has anyone else heard this?

I read that it was starting in November and since my bill cycle is up tomorrow, I went into the TMobile store to ask about this and they had no idea what I was talking about (or so they said).

Has anyone received a letter yet saying they need to switch or they can cancel up to Feb. 2014?

It seems like the new plans would be a lot cheaper for us but we still have 1 year left in our contract.

I have not heard that. I still have over a year left on my contract, but switched to the new plan. We have 5 lines and only had data on 2, with 1000 min. We now have unlimited data, talk, text and our bill went DOWN $35!!! So they are worth checking out.

Yeah I read on a tmobile blog that this is happening.

I have been wanting to add another line to our family plan for a few months. About once a month I go online to see what it would cost. Every time I tried it it wanted me to pay a "migration" fee over to the new plan. This month I tried it and there was no migration fee. From what I have read they are waiving these fees in order to force people to mover over to the new value plans. I did the math and it would actually save money in the long run. However, I did not want to pay the migration fee.

I would go online if you can and see if you can switch your plan over without paying any fees. I am not sure if this was because of the switch over or if I was finally in the window of not having to pay an early termination fee. I didn't think I was up until December or around there so I am thinking it was to get me off the old plan.

I tried to change the plan online and it was going to charge me a migration fee.

I've been with TMobile for years. My dd needs a new phone. When I called about it, they told me I had to pay full price for the phone. I asked them if they were going to decrease my plan, and I was told no. I told them then I was going to another carrier. They then switch me to the new plans. it saved me over $45/month (2 lines) which will more than pay for her phone. This was several months ago though, and I didn't know they were going to force it. I'm ok with it since my bill went down so much. Plus now it looks like her dad is getting a phone for Christmas, so win/win all around for me.:cool1:

We are currently with AT&T but looking into buying our new 5S phones outright and going with TMobile. Can anyone give me reviews of the service?

I live in Chicago so I generally have great service. I also like the wifi calling option since I have wifi at both work and home, so it works well.

However, we drove from Chicago to New York last summer to go on a cruise and we had NO service at all throughout the drive in Pennsylvania. My DH, who has Verizon through his work, had a signal the whole time.

If my plan reduces to what they say it will be with the new Simple Choice plan, I will stay with TMobile. If not, I might look elsewhere to a no contract plan and test it out. (Provided they make me switch to Simple Choice or cancel before my contract is up in one year.)

I live near Boston and have tmobile. I typically get good to excellent service for calls except in my house and my 4g mostly works when I try it though I mostly use my wifi. I was allowed to switch to simple choice around June with no migration fee though technically one line is still under contract until Nov. 2014. I do miss the cheaper phones but even I am saving over $100 month compared to other companies and we not get new phones often anyway.
