Anyone heard of the Aladdin Musical Spec. being replaced?

While waiting for the Aladdin show on our recent trip, we over heard a castmember talking to a guest about the show, and he mentioned that the Aladdin Musical Spectacular day's are numbered , and that they are currently in the process of narrowing down their selections for a new show :sad1: . We wanted to ask him about what he had said, but the doors were getting ready to open so we weren't able to.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything? Or could ask if they are planning to go soon? I really like the show, I can't get enough of it. Really works well as a musical, and can't think of anything else that would be better or just as good.

This actor is my favorite Aladdin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAcY79rc5_I&feature=related

I've only seen the show with this actor, and an Asian Aladdin who I had normally seen as the video Aladdin's stunt double. The Jafar actor who's in the clip for like 2 seconds is awesome too! I've never seen the show with a different Jafar, is there one?

I read somewhere  that they were holding casting calls to replace a few current performers so.... I don't see why they'd do that unless it were going to continue to run!

The new cast that Aladdin is going to have is going to be it's last. I'm not sure when the newbies are coming or if they came, but once their contracts are done, so is the show.

yeah they are supposed to replace it with a new toy story show...Al Lutz reported on it last month I think it was...Callie (dangermouse) if you read this, am I right here???

i had heard this also but not sure whats what till its offical but id get all the pics you can next time its more then likely the last year

We always attend the Aladdin show at the theatre in CA. Its one of our favorites!

I have heard rumors about it too. I hope it will still be running when we go. We've never gone to the show, and it gets great reviews. I'm going to make a point to see it this time. We even had preferred seating last year, and still didn't get around to it.

I don't know a thing about the Alladin Show, but I just started seriously researching our trip for October and during our stay (October 29-November 2), the Hyperion Theater is down for "refurbishment." I don't know what that means, but I'm guessing no Alladin for us. Bummer! :confused3 :confused3

We too are at DL for late October. Due to the refurb of Aladdin and Fantasmic - AND the closure rumour involving Aladdin - we've booked the August 30th weekend in DL as well.

I read they were going to replace it with a Nemo show. That they could work out the kinks and then take to Broardway??

I hope they come out with an origional show. The Aladdin show is excellent... but I have seen it every time I've had a disneyland holiday so a new show would be a good idea.

There is already a "Finding Nemo -- The Musical" in Animal Kingdom WDW. While it's a good show, you can see this show in Florida...something new at DCA would be better!

Ok!! Use your imagination! Come up with a New Show with mass appeal on a Disney theme?? How about something that is NOT a movie already?? Something in DL only.

I would have Carousel of Progress LIVE!!

That sounds like a good idea! :)

I've heard too that Aladdin would be down for the count by the end of this year and that Toy Story would take its place.
I had always hoped that Hercules would be next at Hyperion. Fighting the Hydra, seeing all the glorious costumes of the Gods and Godesses, I thought it would be a nice spectacle :confused3

I'm in for "Mary Poppins!" :goodvibes

But I'm pretty sure it was announced to be "Toy Story."

I too have heard that it will be replaced. I think the show is great and we have seen it a couple of times. So if it is replaced with a show that is just as great, I'd be OK with that.

All that we know is that at some point Disney will likely replace Aladdin like they replace most shows that run in the parks. There has been no announcement of any sort about what will replace it. FWIW, I saw an internet rumor that Aladdin was going to be closing forever in the fall of 2006 and 2 years later it's still running. Sometmes rumors are just that, rumors.

They were holding auditions for a whole new Aladdin cast not that long ago... But checking disneyauditions.com they took that down..

If it's playing when you go, it's an absolute must! Does not run Monday or Tuesday. My friend invited me to join her Disney trip last year and she too had priority seating, I was so excited about using them , but we some how ended up at Tortilla Jo's in Downtown Disney and missed the last show of day (and our trip). Ugh I was so upset :headache:!

The Orchestra section which is the lower section is the best area in my opinion, but the line fills up fast for it so good idea to line up early, at least 40 minutes prior to the show.
