Anyone have Vero Beach as home resort?

This resort appeals to us mostly because of the beach front location. Is the property actually on the beach? What is the beach like? Can you fill me in on how Vero Beach compares with other Disney properties (we've only stayed at the Polynesian, so my base of reference is limited).

VB is very beautiful and it is on the water. But you need to stay in the Inn or on the 2nd or 3rd floor if you want to see the water. It is a very quiet resort. Not a lot of action. Great places to eat and the pool and beach area are great for relaxing. Kids will enjoy the pool and the slide. There are nightly activities for the kids--singing around the campfire and making treats. The town of VB has a lot of unique shopping. There are bike trails we did. They were fun and not many hills--easy riding. A few days were great a full week may be a little long.

Are the nightly activities for kids free or do they cost extra?

I don't remember any charges. I know the campfire activites are free. THe board games in the Green Cabin is also free.

The Boardwalk was our original investment of 210pts. After our first trip to Vero we just fell in love. We also love Orlando, but the quiet and peacefulness of Vero is sometimes a great asset.
DVC was offering an incentive to purchase additional points about 3 yrs ago and we jumped!!! We purchased 100 additional pts at Vero so we would have that 11 month window for the winter months. The ocean is great a little rocky and you have to be careful. Also an investment of cheap beach chairs is a must. Our kids often choose Vero over BWV and love the activities that the resort offers. There are only charges attached to the activities such as tee shirt painting ect. The fees are very resonable and I am most willing to pay as the children are quite happy and I am at times quite alone!!! They also have tour guided canoe trips and orange grove trips and these have larger fees attached. We book an inn room, ocean front as there is 4 of us and they are quite a bit larger than the studios.

If I can help just type...........

We just added on here--we love it! We've been OKW owners since '93 and have visited VB a few times. This last time we went for a week in early Jan. and loved it. It's so nice and relaxing after all the years of "commando" park hopping!

There were activities that had fees and those that didn't. The evening activity for the kids was 2DC and it had a fee, I think. We really enjoyed the recreation crew--Linda, especially, was outstanding! Very personable and fun-loving! Check out the resort--I think you'll like it.

Thanks for the good reviews......Thats why we bought there!! We are looking forward to our 1st trip to VB this June. But we bought for the reasons listed above!!!!!!!!:D

We bought at Vero last year and stayed there for the first time over Thanksgiving for a week in a one bedroom. We absolutely love it and plan on cutting our vacations in Orlando short so we can hit Vero on every trip.

With that said, I wish I had bought into Boardwalk instead. We go to Disney every other year sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The sales rep really put the pressure on us to buy at Vero, especially with they buy back incentive. Now that I am planning our annual WDW world trip, I am finding a hard time making reservations, since many people go the same time we do, and obviously had the 11 month window, so there is not much availability. I plan on trying to firm up ressies today. I wish I had understood better the whole 11 month vs 7 month window thing. I really confused me until recently.

With this upcoming trip, I am hoping that we can secure ressies somewhere over the holidays, probably OKW, and then when everyone transfers over to BCV when they open then we can transfer our ressies to the Boardwalk, lol. Does this sound like a good plan?

I just wanted to let you know that although we absolutely love Vero, I wish I had understood the whole DVC process better. DH keeps telling me he "explained it, and explained it to me, and even kept asking me if I understood and I said yes, so it is not his fault: :) BUT, he is not the one trying to make vacation plans, I am, he just goes when and where I tell him, ( only for vacations, though, lol).

kel3420 any change of you add-on at the BCV?

Mtmom - you will love it - we went in September had a 2-bedroom with an ocean view - it was wonderful!:bounce:

VB is the only DVC resort that has VCR in the studios and the inns rooms - I wish they would do that at OKW!

What does BVC mean? Also, are you familiar with the Hilton Head resort? Is it on the beach?

Annetta - BCV stands for the Beach Club Villas which are the new timeshare offering from Disney, located not to far from the Boardwalk Villas with immediate access to Epcot and MGM.

I own at Hilton Head and love it! It's not directly on the beach - more like surrounded by a marsh. The beach (and Disney's Beach House) is located about 1 mile and a half from the resort. It may seem far but it really isn't at all. I've never been to Vero so I can't compare the two but the atmospheres sound similar at both Vero and Hilton Head - laid back and relaxing - totally different from the Disney resorts.

If you have any other questions about Hilton Head feel free to ask. It's a lovely resort and I'm happy to call it home!

sorry - BCV Beach Club Villa the new DVC opening this August at WDW. They are selling it now.

No the Hilton Head is not on the beach - it is on an island - I like VB better - but alot of people love HH. you can walk (about 1 1/2 mile away), take DVC bus or drive to it. HH has a beach house on the ocean that also has a swimming pool and places to eat and change.

the main pool has a slide, there is a wooden bridge out over the water for you to be able to fish, a playground.
