just wondering.
I am not, but have worked holidays in the past.

Possibly.....

I am on call for the group home for two weeks starting today. There is snow predicted for Christmas day. I will have to work if any of my staff can't make it in due to bad roads. Anything could happen. I am actually more concerned about New Year's Eve. It is amazing how many people get "sick" on New Year's Eve.

I work 12 hour shifts in the ER. I'm off this year, as I worked last. However, I do get the joy of working both Christmas Eve and the day after...Ho freakin' ho.

DH is working. His shift is 11am to 11pm. We will open gifts tomorrow as a family at our house. His family celebrates tomorrow night, so he is off for that.

It seems every year he works Xmas Day, but we just work around it. I do feel badly for him, as he loves my Mother's cooking, so we make sure to bring him home a giant dish!

Yup, I'm headed in (to the ER) at 2, won't get home till 12:30. I work Sunday too.

mommasita, my dh has to work too :sad1:
he very rarely ends up having to work on xmas, but this year it looks like he has to.
he does day shift, so we will get up early before he leaves, so he will be here for the kids opening their presents.
we will have dinner when he comes back home.

DH works all weekend 4:oo am to 1:00 pm all weekend so we aren't doing to much.

My poor husband is working 12 hours everyday until after the first of the year including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve and New Year's Day.

I'm on call until after the first of the year and will probably go down and volunteer my services instead of spending the time alone. We are having a big brunch first thing Christmas morning so my husband can celebrate that way and I'm taking big dinner to his office tomorrow night and Christmas Day.

I used to work all the holidays when i worked CVS. We didnt open til 10am on christmas so it wasnt that bad. Oney year we opened presents before and one year we waited til after i came home. We closed at 6pm on christmas eve so that was nice

i have to work christmas eve until 9.30 and then 31st until 10,30 and the 1st until 9.30

I often do as it's year end for us. I don't know yet; it will depend on how close the financial statement audit package is to being completed.

Ds is working 4am -4pm chirstmas eve and christmas day plus sunday so we are doing it with our immediate family on christmas eve and extended family on christmas day and then extended-extended family on sunday. We are waiting until he gets home to eat on both christmas eve and day, but he will miss on sunday.

I worked last year on Christmas day, I work in credit card customer service for a major bank and we have several call centers that rotate the holidays. I am off on work comp this year but its also our centers turn to be off. My 20 year old son on the other hand will be working this Christmas day as will every single rep in all the call centers. He works for a company that has the xbox contract and they will be BUSY taking calls from folks trying to figure out all their xbox gifts!!!

Nope :goodvibes

But I will be working NYE and possible NYD for end of the month - but it will be quiet - just our dept so it should go quickly :wizard:

Thankfully no. That's one thing I like about working at a school. We get plenty of time off.

When I was growing up, my mom worked as a jail nurse and my dad was a police officer (they actually met in the booking area of the jail!). We had several Christmases when one or even both had to work. I can remember our friends calling to ask what we got for Christmas and we'd tell them we weren't opening presents until after dinner. My brother, sister and I certainly did learn how to be patient!
