Need a new P&S and this is in the price range and uses the X-D cards that I have from my broken Fuji F-450. I like the mega pixels and the optical zoom. Seems to have good features. Was curious if anyone has it and if so what their experience with it has been. Thanks

I don't have this model of camera but I do have the Olympus FE170, which is a few models back. I love it so much, it takes excellent photos and it is the one I use most often (I also have a Minolta film SLR and a Canon S3) for portability but the quality is also really good.

I got it right before our WDW trip on Feb 10th. I am impressed with everything so far. The only missing is continuous shooting mode. But I love the different preset scene modes it has available. I couldn't spend more than $200 and this one just squeaked by at $199. ;)

Here is one I took with the cuisine mode.

Not as good as an SLR on a tripod but here is a teacup shot, handheld

I was even able to get these, no flash and handheld in RnR

Hope this helps.

I went to Best Buy to buy a new P&S. They give you 14 days, then you can either return with a 15% restocking fee or exchange for another at no cost. I tried the Canon SD1000 ELPH first and took it back after 4 days.( pics were inferior to ones taken with my bulky 4 yr old Olympus C-5000) The Olympus FE340 was the second one I tried and decided to keep it.

Michele,

Thanks for the pics, the macro of the castle is nice, as are the rest. I just placed my order through B&H Photo, that is where I buy all my stuff. Have always had good experiences with them. Thanks for the help.:thumbsup2

Anyone have more photos taken with this camera?

How is the "wake-up" time between photos?

Michele would u or someone else owning and using FE 340 please tell me how is the quality of shots at night time or in situations with very less light using olympus FE 340? I am planning of getting it in exchange of another one which is really bad for night shots. Please respond asap. Thanks a ton !!!

Are you thinking of using the flash or just no flash situations? Three of the pictures above were taken without a flash, the 2 from RnR and the tea cups one. I set the camera on a rail to steady it for those shots. You won't be able to get very clear handheld. It won't compare with shots from a DSLR but it does vrey good for a point and shoot camera.

Cuisine mode? LOL, gotta love Olympus (just bought one myself). :thumbsup2

Really nice photos, Michele. Impressed. What settings did you use for the teacups shot?

waughzee, make sure you get a high speed card.

I'm not on my home computer so I can't check the info but I believe I used the auto mode setting on the dial, with the flash turned off.
