Looking to rent a car from Feb 14-22nd. I saw you can name your price at priceline... Has anyone successfully done this with low ball offer? I need a mid-size car and want it as CHEAP as possible. What would a reasonable price for a week be on one of these? I have one reserved with dollar for 182.08 but I feel I can do better....thoughts? Stories??

I have used the name your own price feature for cars many times. I always start low and work my way up. Last year in December, for instance, I got a mini van for $25 per day out of Orlando International.

Yay you give me hope. I wanted some advice... family of 4 two adults- hubby is 6'2 and myself and two small kids. We will have 3 suitcases and two umbrella strollers plus groceries. What size car would you all recommend for us? I know the suitcases and groceries are temporary. I was hoping to fit it all in one trip lol

My apologies for the delay in responding. Birthday weekend had me occupied. For comfort I would advise mini van, but full size car may work depending on the size of the luggage. I like to be comfortable.

As far as timing, to give you an example, for my Dec 9 trip I will begin towards the beginning of November to start bidding. Hope this helps.

sounds like a good price if it includes all taxes & fees.

I needed a minivan over the January marathon dates this year for a 9 night rental. Rates were ridiculously high, waited until a month out & bid $19 a day, 8 days = $230 will all taxes & fees

received a brand new mini van thru Hertz, they were just putting it into service, which resulted in a near hour long wait in line in the evening to pick it up:rolleyes:

we saved at least $200 on the rental. I did check the monthly rental car thread and the rates never did drop much for mini-vans.
