Last weekend it was hot, but being the holiday and all we dutifully headed to the neighborhood pool. It's a concrete pond. There is expansive concrete all around surrouned by plastic fencing. There is zero shade.

I ended up getting a golf umbrella from the car to make my own shade. The children could stay in the water for hours, but I could never stay in the sun that long, regardless of sunscreen.

I looked at free standing sun shelters, but am loathe to pay $150 for a bit of shade. However, I also think it could really add to our/my enjoyment this summer.

Does anyone have a cheap shade trick? I had plans to run a line across the fence corner, but after checking the fence it couldn't take much stress at all.

I know someone has conquered this problem.

I think you already did.

I used to carry an umbrella around with me in Georgia. I was very pregnant and went for walks. I couldn't handle the sun so I took the umbrella with me. I got lots of strange looks, but I got more smiles. :teeth:
