We are in the early stages of a family reunion......and WDW seems to be the vacation spot of choice. Maybe around 50-60 people from around the country. Any recommendations or suggestions?????

Not quite the big one you are talking about but twice with three to four families and hetic but fun! We are DVC and go GV plus studios as needed. I have rules...everyone can go there own way except for one or two get togethers but find us together 90% of the time which is fine. We all get along so well and have fun. We keep receipts for food and cars and split - no problem/ Tickets are on own. Go for it - the memories are priceless!!!

We have had two family reunions at WDW. the first one in April of 1990. Twenty-six of us (immediate family). We all stayed at the Grosvnor. Flew our sister in from Australia as a surprise. It went very well. Children aged from 4 to 18. Adults up to age 69. The Grosvenor arranged for a private Character breakfast for our Australian guest. It was great!

Our second reunion was in 1997. We stayed at OKW. A Grand Villa and two - two bedroom units (24 of us). Again, it was a wonderful time. We are planning to do it again possibly next year. We have a great family and even though the "kids" have grown up, they still love to go to WDW.

It takes a little bit of planning but it is well worth it. We loved getting in line and telling the CM's that there were 26 persons waiting to board!

Good luck!

I would love to hear more on how you folks organized such a big event and kept everyone happy. How far in advance did you have to start planning to get accommodations for everyone?

We have had 5 family get togethers in the last 7 years. There our 21 of us in my side of family (2 brothers-2 sisters). We have gotten 2 GV's at HH(brothers+ sisters are DVC members also:)
And we have also done that at OKW also. You definately have to book at the 11 month window for the GV's. We usually book it for 6 nites, and avoid 1 weekend night of points. Two members of my family have OKW as home resort and 2 have HH as home resort, so we ave access to both at the 11 month window.

To give you another comparison, but not on WDW property. We have also done 3 family get togethers at Nags Head NC. We were just there the last week in July. We had an 8BR, 3 story house, with private pool and ocean front. We split this 5 ways, and the cost for the house(7 nites) was $1300 per family. They expect half down by x-mas, and the balance 30 days before you get there. Also they don't let you put it on a credit card (no FF miles:( ) We are planning our next get together at VB (Beach Cottages) in the summer of 2004:bounce:

We do a mini one every year. We get the GV at OKW and invote one of our siblings and their family for the first week, have a crowded weekend while a second sibling and their family joins us for the second week. Works out real nice.
