We have a group of 8 going and have been told we qualify for a GG. Has anyone tried the character breakfast at Tony's? What characters are there and how's the food?

TIA!

We did this breakfast last May as part of a Grand Gathering. We were traveling with our best friends, 4 adults and 4 kids (4, 7, 8, 9). The meal was served family style and you could ask for extra helpings of anything that you wanted and they would bring it. It was the basics, juice, coffee, breakfast breads, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, waffles. I think there were potatoes, don't remember though. Mid way through the meal, Tony came out and addressed the restaurant, introduced the Characters: Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. He also announced any birthdays and anniversaries.
Tony and the characters visit each table, signed autographs and took pictures. Once most were done eating, Tony called the children up for some dancing with the Characters. I remember them doing the "hokey pokey" and some others. It made for some great video and pics. I'm glad that I did it, since I like different experiences when we go to WDW. The foods was OK, but the character interaction was great. You will have a great time. Just remember to leave lots of travel time to the park to make the early breakfast. My group of 8 did not like getting up early and sticking to the tight schedule!

We were traveling with 8 adults and 5 children and it was terrible. No one was happy with the food-it was served cold (the frozen stuff was barely defrosted!). The eggs were instant and incredibly runny. The only saving grace of the meal was the mickey waffles. Honestly, it was the second worst sit down meal I ever had at Disney (second only to Hollywood & Vine). Meeting Mickey took Forever, and the other characters were very rushed. I don't know if they were having an off-day or what, but I would never go back again for a Grand Gathering Breakfast there (I went in 2009 for the record). Hopefully it has improved since then. For What it is Worth, I would rather eat at Crystal Palace, Chef Micky, or Tusker House for a Character Breakfast..They are not "Grand Gatherings", but in my opinion the food is better, fresher and the characters have more time.

Good Luck :thumbsup2

We have this scheduled for next week. We received a call about a month ago telling us that Mickey would no longer be appearing at this event, since his meet & greet is located so close by. :sad1:

We love the Crystal Palace breakfast and always get an early ADR. But I found out they no longer serve the breakfast lasagna which was my hubby's favorite. We were thinking about trying something new, but I think I'd prefer to stick to CP. Thanks for the info!

Oh no! Part of the fun is getting to see Mickey without standing in line! :sad2:

we were told the same thing and we are going in July.

We did the GG breakfast @ Tony's in January, 4 adults, 4 kids. The food was good and the character interaction was excellent. We would do it again.

Just back - went to Tony's GG on June 18. Characters were Minnie, Goofy, Daisy & Donald. Tony was also there. It was nice - singing & games for the kids after breakfast. Everyone received a special pin, which also served as a fastpass for Philharmagic. No Mickey, but we went straight to the line after breakfast & had a short 20 minute wait. Don't think we would do this breakfast again though.
