I may need to transfer my mom there and I am out of state, so I have no clue if this is a decent facility or what...:confused3 all opinions good and bad are appreciated. Main issue she is dealing with is a fractured pelvis but has some additional issues that are requiring hospital care ahead of physical rehab right now, so trying ot make the best decision on most effective care for her. Reason for changing hospitals is so she can be closer to family to see her each day...we do not have that at her current hospital.

thank you!

Pam

Is your mom in another state as well? Or just another part of FL?

I know you said you wanted to move her closer to family. Have any of this family had experience with CC hospital? Or maybe have neighbors of friends with recent experience.

My aunt was hospitalized several times at CC in 2006. I went down to be with her. CC seemed like any other facility of its level. Its not Mayo clinic but its not County General either.

I can't really make an up to date eval for you. Try to google hospital reviews on the web and put in CC. That should bring up its JACHO scores and any problems it may have.

Just a side FYI. Its very expensive to transport pateints long distances and most insurances won't cover the cost(especially medicare) if there is a closer
facility that can provide care.

Good luck.

shes in Fl, but an hour south of family, and on her own. Tryiong to move her where family members will hopefully visit her , keep tabs on health, etc. Good point about the transport not being covered if she is already at the closest hopital..I had not thought of that, but may have to pay OOP if it means the best outcome for her. My brother has been an inpatient there once before, but he thinks just because a place offers private rooms that the care is not to be questioned. The hospital she is at now has made numerous errors and caused problems that were not there prior to her admittance, so I think we need to get her out of there as there is no one to advocate for her or visit, care for her.
