Anyone have any luck getting what they wanted AFTER waitlist expires?

Just curious.
Today our waitlist expires for next saturday's check in date...I plan to call every day and check in to see if by some chance, something becomes available.

Anynoe ever do this and actually succeedd??

People here have called from the airport to check on a waitlist that hadn't come through, and have found what they wanted to be available! I've never done it, but if you do, I hope it works out!

I reserved a studio at AKV and waitlisted for a 1 BR. The wait list never came through. I even checked in on line before I left, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. At check-in I told the cm that I had been on the waitlist, and asked if there was any 1br available and there was. How is that for a waitlist coming through at the last possible moment?

It has happened to me. Last May I took the Amtrak down from NY and called periodically to see if a room was available at AKV on arrival day. I had a room reserved at Jambo. Checked in at jambo and asked if they had a room at AKV. Suprisingly they did. Checked in at AKV. I was scheduled to move to WLV for my last night and managed to stay at AKV for the entire stay in the same room. Had to keep changing room keys due to different reservation numbers but it went smoothly.
