Anyone have any idea why a marketing research company is harassing us?

let me guess, they are doing television research. We were lucky enough to be on their list a couple of months ago. It always came up as something different on the caller ID. Sometimes it would come up as Indiana call, which I always answered because thats how DS Vonage calls come up, now I check the number before I answer, sometimes it would come up as private call or unknown, which I would never answer and they would never leave a message. DH would sometimes answer those calls and tell them the same thing, but they would still call everyday. They finally got tired, because the calls have stopped.

Wow, this is just crazy. The air horn is starting to sound good.

We've had some number call my house many, many times. I have caller ID so I just don't pick up. For months now they don't get it. So when they call my mom puts the call on speakerphone and just walks away. So they get to hear my dog barking. I don't think they got the hint but it is funny.

Actually that's weird because this is coming from Indiana! We've never given them the chance to even say what the questions were about so I don't know. How long did yours go on? I swear this has been a month, ever day for a month, for us.

This is why I give my work number out to everyone who asks for one. And have an unlisted # at home. Good grief, how annoying...and I'm not sure I've heard of anything more rude.

Priceless! :lmao:

Ok, this isn't nice, but considering your situation a drastic measure may be necessary. Purchase an air horn -- the kind that blasts really loud. Next time they call, give them a short blast.

Like I said, it's not nice, but for repeated annoying calls it's effective.

Yeah, I have their name and all the info. I have caller ID. I see them and pick up the phone and I hang up, because I want to try to make a point. (It's not that I'm not home, I'm just not talking to you.)

Lots of times I'm really not home and I just see that they've called.
-------------------------------------

Since you have called ID and you can see that it's them, pick up the phone and blow a VERY loud high-pitched whistle into the phone or hold the phone right up against your stereo at it's highest volume.. I had to resort to that once and the calls stopped..

But on the 4th or 5th attempt when my husband told them to stop calling, they actually said, sorry, we're going to keep calling til you answer the questions!!!!!

Then, we'll continue to hang up. click. :teeth:

There was a thread a long time ago about the things people say and do when telemarketers call, it was hilarious! :lmao:

I'm trying this today. I'll let you all know how it turns out!!! (Hope they like Ragtime!!!!! Or should it be Dixieland? Which would be more annoying at full volume?)

I would say they lasted about 6 weeks. They just stopped calling one day. Good Luck, because even if you don't answer, its still annoying because you have to stop what you are doing and look to see who it is and then you have to listen to it ring.

Got any heavy metal? That should do the trick - and make sure the phone is right up against the speaker..

Thanks! You've given me hope that this will end! I was starting to feel like I was in a twilight zone episode or something!

I guess we are just fascinating people and they are dying to have our opinions???? It's a compliment, really, I guess... :)

With my luck the telemarketer will be a head banger and like it.

After all this constant hanging up, day after day, getting info, talking to supervisors, calling organization after organization to get them to stop...wouldn't it have just been faster to answer the stupid questions in the first place?

Telemarketers I hate, charities asking for money bother me too but taking a few seconds to answer some questions usually doesn't bother me.

Of course I had an idoit researcher yesterday who couldn't understand that I couldn't answer which radio station I listened to because my DH runs 2 of the radio stations in town. That said, I hope everyone answers radio call out surveys, at best people's pay depend on it and at worst their jobs may depend on it.

Ah, but now it's past that point...she politely asked them to stop calling, and they told her neener neener neener...we're not going too!

They cannot be allowed to win now! It's a battle of wills!!

.

Where's the fun in that? :)

Seriously, I never answer those questions. It took about 5 of them to realize that this was going to turn into a "thing" and by that time it was a full blown show down.

While I understand that part of it, once someone is told that they are not interested in answering questions, any further phone calls are harassment and should not have to be tolerated by those who choose not to participate.. To insist that they are going to keep calling until the questions are answered borders on blackmail..

Someone calling does not create an obligation for me to answer their questions or even answer their call. I don't assume any responsibility for someone else's career choice(s) any more than I'd expect them to assume responsibility for mine.

Jeeze people lighten up. While it wasn't a joke ( I do want people to answer, the more favoriable the answers the more money I get) I was more being silly than anything.

I agree that repeted calls are harrassment and you shouldn't have to put up with that. But if someone isn't selling anything or asking for money, I don't see the harm in taking a minute or 2 to answer a few questions.

They get their answers, they don't call again. It's like jury duty, once you've served you aren't bothered again for a while.

Just had another thought.. Have you considered contacting your telephone company and requesting a new private# because you're being harassed? I know they will change your number for free with my telephone company as long as you're willing to press charges against the individual or business that is harassing you.. By stating that they won't stop calling until you answer the questions would be considered blackmail and I wouldn't tolerate that for one second!
