We are pregnant with our 4th baby. I have always used Enfamil with my other children but I've been considering using Parent's choice this time. I've read their site and it seems it offers the same benefits as Enfamil w/lipids DHA and ARA but dh is worried because it's not a 'name' brand'. To me if it is the same ingredients and same benefits why not save almost 50%. I would like to check out the company to see if there are any complaints or any problems I should know about but they have been around for a while. Does anyone know how to go about doing this?

We used it with DS (now almost 2) and it was just fine. You can go to the site and sign up for coupons too, I think it was about $2 off a can once a month.

Definately look into it. I am using Target brand right now, after using Similac for the other two kids. I am very pleased with it-it actually seems to digest very well(very little spit up) and dissolves much better in the water than Similac. With a price difference of at least $10 per can and the same ingredients you can't go wrong. :thumbsup2 Also all formulas are regulated.

I actually prefer off-brand formulas! The powder dissolves so much better in the water for some reason and there are WAY less bubbles when you shake it. It seems to digest better also. Less gas, spit-up and tummy aches in general. The $ saving is a huge plus as well! All formulas sold in the US have to be regulated by the FDA, so you are getting the same product with a less than fancy label. HTH!

What is the Target brand called? I visit Target more than Walmart so it would be even more convenient.

we used parents choice with our daughter, and others have said my daughter did much better on parents choice then she did on the name brands, we also tried many different store brands and I felt the parents choice was the best value and my daughter did the best on it.

Thanks for the info! I am also considering using the parents choice formula, and now feel alot better about it. :)

Both of our daughters used Parent's Choice and we had no complaints. We saved so much money, and they did just fine on it.

Our doctor has always said they are all about the same. He says buy whichever one you have a coupon for!

The YMCA daycare here uses Parent's Choice. It's free if you want it. If you prefer another brand, you must provide it. Of course, most of the infants drink the free stuff!

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone I am so happy to hear I can save some $ on this without feeling like I'm hurting the baby. I was in Target the other day and the price of Enfamil was :scared1: I think it was $21 or $22 when my 2yo was on it, now it's $25 or $26.

I used Parent's choice on a friend's recommendation when DS6 was a baby. All formulas are regulated by the FDA so no need to worry.

I used Parent's Choice with DD, who is now almost 4. I have no complaints. She started on Enfamil but we switched, mostly for the cost. She did very well, even taking something else first. My sister has used both the Parent's Choice and the Target brand with her kids. She even used the Target lactose free formula. She had no problems at all.

We used Parent's Choice when my daughter was born in 1999 with no problems.

My son was using Enfamil Gentlease but when the coupons ran out, I switched to Parents Choice Gentle. He had no problems. I agree with previous posters, it dissolves much better. I say go for it.

Another parents choice user here too. We use the soy formula. No problems here. :)

My DS is on Similac Sensitive (lactose free)..I was so excited to see that there was a generic for this..well, I bought a can and mixed some in with his similac and he wouldn't eat it...I tried the parent's choice alone a few days later and he just cried. I assume he just didn't like the taste of it. I tell you though with our next one I will probably start with generic cause I don't think there is anything wrong with them. ;)

We used Parent's Choice with both of our children and were very happy with it. Like others said, it mixed better and I noticed that it didn't stain clothes and bibs the way that Similac did (we used that with our DD for a few months before switching). In addition, when we went to Sam's we bought the Member's Mark formula (the name of their store brand). It was made by the same manufacturer as the Parent's Choice, was even a bit cheaper (per ounce) and came in a huge can that lasted a long time.

we used the parent's choice organic one with DHA ARA. it was more than the basic one, but still cheaper than any of the "name brands". :goodvibes

this was my third breastfed baby so i was a little reluctant to try the formula, but he seemed to want something to supplement after he was six months. he had no problems, but only had 1-2 small bottles per day.

my sister used it and thought that it made her baby (newborn) more gassy. i think the other one she used was enfamil and she thought that the baby prefered it. i never noticed a difference (i used one can of enfamil between the parent's choice), but my son was older and was primarily breastfed.

i would definitely try it and if you notice any issues to switch. some babies have problems with the more expensive formulas, so i don't think it's the formula just how that particular formula interacts with that particular baby.

My pediatrician told us with the 4th baby that the formula is all made by Wyeth anyway, it's just about labelling and advertising costs. He said it was a waste of money to buy the name brand and just use the Target kind.:thumbsup2

Great, down to earth doctor - so sad that he retired last year. :sad1:

Congrats on your baby!! :goodvibes
