I saw a flier (can't remember where it was now) for starting an ING account and now I'm at the webpage, www.ingdirect.com/save and it's asking for a reference code.

No idea where that durn flier is.

Anyone have an extra or know where I can find one? :confused3

I got this out of the current issue of SmartMoney magazine. The code is:

SM377/E75D3S8Q

Hope it works!

Hmmm.. we're not supposed to do referrals on this board, you might want to edit that before a mod does it for you :)

Thanks, though.

Please keep in mind that offering referrals is not permitted on the DISboards as per the Posting Guidelines. And it is especially important not to click thru a link received by email or PM when doing anything that has to deal with banking and personal information. You never know the integrity of the source of that link and it could be used to cull your personal information for illegal purposes.

Please refer to this post by BethR regarding the subject, as the rules have not changed since she first posted it:

I'm confused. I posted what is a published reference code, not a referral in which I would benefit from...did I do something wrong?

I was going to offer up the thing that was printed in Smart Money magazine as well. It is NOT a referral. It is a code tied to the magazine offer. $25 to the new account holder, not requiring the $250 initial deposit.

Yes, there was another post which I guess got deleted when mad-4-the-mouse saw it.

They offered to send me a referral if I PM'ed them.

Minnie didn't do anything wrong :) Thats exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

I believe it was my post that was removed. For the record I was not going to send some link to "refer" you to ING direct. I was going to PM you the code that you requested. I don't even know how to "refer" someone to ING direct.:confused3 And I asked for the PM because it looked like from the previous posts that it was incorrectly being perceived as a referral.

My post was the one that was deleted - sorry!! I thought it was against the rules to post the link in a post, not to offer it if someone PM'd you. Again, sorry to have broken the rules. However you join ING, I can vouch for it being a great way to save your money!

It was Annie I was referring too :)
I love these boards and hope my posts weren't taken the wrong way, I just didn't want anyone to get into trouble for referrals!

Thanks so much, I DID join ING. I'm hoping to use automatic transfers and *forget* about the money.. and then use it for a down payment on a new car when I graduate.

Thats the plan. We'll see.:yay:

I just don't want anyone to think I am some evil bank robber or something! :sad2:

Anyway, ING is the best because I don't even remember that I have money going into it...then I check the balance and think, wow, I am actually saving money! :cheer2:

PS - Piecey, what type of dog is that? It isn't a Shih Tzu?

Thats what I am hoping to do! Forget it's even over there.

I work in a bank and the savings account I have there just is too easy to access.. and I see it EVERYDAY.

Yes, thats my fluffster Shih-Tzu.

That is one cute dog. We are thinking of getting one...I know this is totally off topic. pluto:

Eh, it was my thread to being with and I don't mind talking about my baby.

He's perfect. Seriously. A bitter tempermental if he doesn't get his way, but it just makes me love him more because even when he's angry he's adorable. And incredibly loyal.
I'm college-aged and I lived at home when I first got him. I don't anymore and so I see him once or twice a week only :( and my parents take care of him (he's pretty easy, really except that he needs lots of attention) but when he sees me come in that door he bolts and his tail wags so fast I'm afraid it's going to fly off. He's loving to everyone but it's clear he remember that he is MY doggie. Which I love.

They're great dogs. My only problem with their coat is that Rink plays hard which involved lots of running and rolling and squeezing in tight places and wriggling underneathe the couch.. which gets his fur incredibly matted if it isn't brushed frequently. We've had several trips to the groomer that inclulded full shavings down to his skin ($40 a trip!) because the mats were so bad. So if you don't have time to keep them brushed or the money or patience to keep them groomed short-- they're not a very good dog to have :(

He was also an incredibly picky eater. We tried at least ten foods before I found one I was comfortable with him eating and he would actually eat.. but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the breed or him just being a picky puppy.
