I really need to have this done and I'm terrified at the potential pain of the procedure. Right now I can't walk, sit, or stand because of the pain of the cyst, but somehow I have convinced myself the incision and drainage will be worse.

Tell me how it is... Please =)

Get it done, you'll feel MUCH better!!! Its a simple procedure with immediate results.

Get it done now! You have to get the infection out.::yes:: You'll feel a lot better.

WIll it heal quickly? I mean, can I return to classes tomorrow? I'm missed all week so far...

Thanks for the kick in the butt. I really shoudl do it...

Go and get it done before things get worse and you end up in the hospital with a bigger problem. An infected cyst is not something to play with.

Been there!!! REally....get it done now! You will feel better immediately and yes it heals quite quickly! Although, I seem to remember I couldn't do much in the way of exercise for a while....but normal everyday stuff was fine.

Good luck....

Ugh... get it taken care of. I was chicken too and didn't go, and one day, mine exploded! It's on my shoulder, and all of a sudden, my shoulder is soaking wet...it was discusting, to say the least. It bled and did lots of gross things. Felt better after though. Now, I have a nice scar, since I didn't get it done properly.

My DH has on on top of his head which I'm really worried about. He's going to have it checked during his next physical which is in May. Should he wait that long? Has anyone ever had one drained from their head? Sounds painful and I'm sure he doesn't want the rapidly dwindling hair on his head shaved! ;)

It does scare me though.

The pain of the drainage is a lot less than what you are feeling now. Trust me. I had a pilonidal (sp?) cyst for years. It would cause tremendous pain and sometimes open on it's own. It never healed on it's own though.

Eventually I had to have surgery, two in fact, to remove the cyst, damaged tissue and get the area to finally heal. I was in bed for a month and had great difficulty walking and sitting for months after that.

Get the cyst drained now so you don't have to go through what I did.

I admit it was awhile ago, but there really is nothing to it. I had a local anesthetic that was put in all aro8und then cyst and when it was removed all i felt was the cyst being pulled out. Mine was in my back so i didn't have to watch fortuantely.

But really, with a local the whole procedure was done in less than an hour, with stitches being pulled a couple of weeks later and some antibiotics. No recurrence since

Have it done. You'll be glad you did.

As previously stated, you will definately feel better.

I've had one on my tail bone and that I needed a donut to sit on but was way better than the pain in the butt!LOL

I had one on my shoulder that I did not take care of, and it burst and now I have what I call my "Third Eye"

I have an appt for 2pm tomorrow to have it taken care of... Thanks for all your support =) I am desperate to be out of pain, I can't even walk without crying!

I have had a pilonidal cyst removed, actually the wound from that surgery still hasn't healed. So I know what you're talking about with that... sorry to hear yours was terrible =(

THANKS!
