Anyone have an experience with a fractured humorous bone and rod

Yes, my mother had this as part of her multiple myeloma, in both arms. Putting the rod in is no big deal. If she's in good health, they may even let her go home the next day. You just use a sling for awhile (no cast) and may need a little therapy. Recovery is not much different than a regualr broken arm. She has also had both femurs done; she is in the hospital right now recovering from the last one.

My mother's situation is different due to her cancer. The first surgery she did OK (this is when they diagnosed the cancer). The second time, she didn't do as well, was in the hospital for 10 days and had to go to rehab for three weeks becasue she was weak (had tumors in that arm and needed to start back on chemo). If your mom is healthy, though, no need to worry about any of this!

Do they know why her arm broke? If she didn't have some kind of accident, I would have them check her blood just in case.
