Anyone have AmEx gold card?

I've been getting CC rewards offers lately. I let the $200 in Disney rewards go, and last week I passed on the $300 in AmEx rewards (at select retail and dining partners). I've been using the Southwest Visa and getting a roundtrip every 8 months or so and that's been fine. Don't want to hurt my credit by
adding new cards.

However, this week AmEx is offering me $400 in rewards and no fee for the first year. Can someone who has an AmEx tell me some of the more common retail and dining partners? Is Amazon one of the reward partners? I don't want $400 in dining rewards - we're trying to eat well at home, but if I could get $400 to spend at Amazon or Apple, I might be swayed.

Thanks!

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. My DH and I both got them in the mail a few weeks ago and we would get $500 in rewards when we spend $500 in the first 3 months.

Now DH got one yesterday where we would get $750 in Rewards when we spent $500 in the first 3 months.

No fee for the first year. Hmmmm....

Wow...maybe I should hold off and see if I get the $750 offer. Mine is also based on spending $500 in the first 3 months....

Thanks for the list, Wheel, that was exactly what I was looking for.

You can get amxx gift cards with the rewards miles and we also got free upper class (nicer then first class) Virgin Atlantic tickets to london. i don't have one anymore, in fact trying to pay off all my amex accounts,, but this one i miss the most.

If it is the rewards points you will get, I highly reccomend it!

...Last year I took the promo, exchanges the bonus points for TRUE BLUE points (Jet Blue) and got round trip flights to Orlando for 2 people.

They also can be traded for Amtrak certificates, like a cash voucher, so you make reservations and just pick up your tickts using the certificate and paying any difference.

I have had a platinum OPTIMA from AMEX (no fee) for years, and love the rewards...but you can only swap for TRUE BLUE points with AMEX Gold

There are lots of other things you can get: Dell certificates, Macy's, Restaurant Groups, etc.

I use my Am Ex Gold card almost everyday and I love their rewards program! I have my utility bills and as many things possible linked to it for payment.

We just returned from a long weekend in Washington D.C and used my points to pay for several nights at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Their reward redemption is so easy and you can use points as "partial payment" and then pay the rest if you dont have enough saved at that time. They can be used in virtually every category from dining, entertainment and tickets, travel, retail, etc.

DH travels constantly for work and I have to say we have never been very successful using his frequent flyer miles and it is even harder these days to get seats with them. We've had great luck with the Amex Rewards and I like having to pay it off every month.
