Anyone have a Sony DCR-SR300 HDD or Sony HC96 mini DV camcorder???

Just curious if anyone has good/bad feedback regarding either the Sony DCR-SR300 40 GB hard drive camcorder or the Sony HC96 mini DV camcorder. We are upgrading from a Sony Hi8 camcorder and will be using it mostly for family videos (kids sporting events, school events, etc.). After lots of research, I'm down to deciding between these two and I just can't make up my mind!!!
