We are planning our trip for next year, and I am wondering about the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom. I would love to hear from anyone who has eaten there. Last year we only went to MK, and we ate at Tony's Town Square, which we found to be really disgusting, as well as expensive. Hoping for a better experience this year, at least with AK. Thanks so much!

We went this June to the Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom and I have to say it wasn't as bad as I remember. The last time I went was when they first opened up in my local mall. The food had some really strange combinations. This time they had more standard food and some unique combos. I'm a picky eater and the staff had no problem editing my meal of the items I did not like. I had a chicken wrap (sorry I forget what it was called). I wouldn't say it was something to write home about, but it served it's purpose and filled me up. The kids menu was pretty nice and had a good selection. The rest of my group had no complaints about their food, but to be fair, we ate nachos, chicken wraps, burgers... the standard fare. The kids ate pasta with sauce and dino chicken nuggets.

The only complaint I have is the waiting area. It is so small and makes the restaurant look like it has a longer wait than it does. We only waited 5 to 10 minutes for a party of 7. Also, it can get very loud with all the animals going. It startled my kids at first, but they got used to it. We sat next to the three gorillas.

Would I go back...sure. I'm not going to make a special trip for it though. We only ate there because after an early morning flight, we were starved by the time we got to the entrance to the Animal Kingdom, and I didn't want to fight the counter service crowds.

Hope this helps.

We had "dinner" at the RC early in August. I use the term dinner loosely, because our meal was made up of multiple shared appetizers, which is our favorite way to eat at the Rainforest Cafe.

DH and I shared the pita quesadillas and the awesome appetizer adventure (which includes chimi-cha-chas, chicken tenders, calamari and crab dip). Our server told us that they had no crab dip, so our appetizer platter came with spinach and artichoke dip instead.

Personally, I didn't really enjoy our meal all that much and had absolutely no desire to return during our trip (not even for a volcanoe!). Though the pita quesadillas were quite good, I found almost everything else to be overly salted and very, very greasy. The service was just okay. The waitress wasn't rude, but seemed a little short with us. Everything just felt very, very rushed.

I will say, though, that this has not been our typical experience with the Rainforest Cafe - whenever we visit Disneyland we go to the Downtown Disney location, order the exact same thing, and have LOVED it every time. Our service there has always been fantastic. Perhaps the AK location just isn't as good as the others, or maybe we were there at a bad time, but it definitely didn't get two thumbs up from me.

But we went in April during spring break, and we had a great meal. I had some sort of coconut shrimp, DH had steak & shrimp, DD had a chicken salad of some sort and DS had either grilled cheese or mac n' cheese (don't know which, but it had to be one of them, cause that's all he ate for 10 days!) Everything was cooked the way we asked, and served hot. I know the large table from England next to us, were not having the same positive experience as us, however. Some were finishing their lunch while others were still waiting for their food.

The service was OK. Slow, to be sure, but it was packed while we were there, and we don't mind a leisurely meal to wind down during the day. We didn't feel ignored, but we certainly weren't fawned over either. The price for the food was fair. Definitley chain food fare, but decent, none the less. The most annoying part was the constant yelling of "Volcano!" everytime one was brought out of the kitchen!;)

We always eat lunch or an early dinner at the AK Rain Forest. DD will be so sad when she finds out we won't be dining there this year (ran out of time since we're doing the DDP). But we've always had good food and we have never complained about the service. DD loves the atmosphere. They will seat you in groups and usually in the same room. By groups, I don't mean you all sit together, but they will call back several families at once. It can get loud but we expect it so it doesn't bother us. They also have a great gift shop.

I really appreciate all of the advice. It sounds like it may be an OK place to eat, although we won't expect anything fantastic. Our little ones might really like the atmosphere, so I am hoping we hit on a day when the service and good are OK as well. I don't think we could find it more gross than the food at MK's Tony's Town Square (at least I hope not!). Are there any other good places to eat at AK? I love these boards because I always get such great responses. Thanks once again...Any suggestions for other places to eat at AK would be greatly appreciate....:)

We don't have a Rainforest Cafe anywhere near us at home so we were just as excited to experience it as any other Disney dining experience. The kids really enjoyed the atmosphere. We decided to pick bkfst (I felt it was a good amt cheaper than lunch or dinner would've been). We enjoyed the food as much as the atmosphere!:thumbsup2

I have to agree....we are not RC fans. We have eaten at several, all over the place. My kids don't even like it! I love the atmosphere (kids are scared) but that is about it! Food is sooo overpriced. Sorry.....just my 2 cents!

All I can remember from a few years ago is that the service was very slow, which we went in expecting based on reviews. The portions were huge even though I think we shared an entree and dessert that day. We were still stuffed and couldn't finish half the dessert...

It's been a few years since I went to the one at AK. I found the dinners OK, but I really liked breakfasts. I had a nice eggs benedict there last time.

The pizza there is great I have to say...but its pretty big and you might want to split it with somone! And if you have room for dessert you should get the chocolate lava cake (i believe thats what its called) it has a sparkler sticking out of the top of it and it is so GOOOOD!!!!
