I got it many years ago - a lady that gave it to me @ dd's school function (we don't live there anymore so I can't contact her)

She called it Mexican sausage roll

it had sausage
cheese
& garlic poweder or salt in it

I think it was just layered all on crescent rolls- nothing cooked yet & then rolled up jellyroll style.

Then it was baked & then you slice it to eat.

Anyone have a real recipe? the last time I tried it - it all fell apart & was a big mess. Just curious if I'm missing something - maybe the sausage should be cooked first?

Sausage takes longer to cook than crescent rolls, so I couldn't imagine not cooking the sausage first. You would also eliminate a lot of fat and messy grease by cooking it first.

I just saw a show yesterday with sausage balls.. they didn't say anything about cooking the sausage first.. and its just bisquick, crumbled pieces of sausage and cheese..:thumbsup2

Yea i could have missed it - but as pp mentioned my sausage in sausageballs isn't cooked first . And they aren't extra greasy - unless they are reheated

My recipes calls for cooking the sausage and drain on paper towel.
