Anyone have a PS for 4 but only 2 actually show up?

I'm wondering what happens (if anything) when you make a PS for 4 adults, but by the time the day arrives only 2 want to go. I really don't want to change the PS now for fear it will end up getting cancelled or (someone will change his mind AGAIN). The PS is for dinner at CRT. I'm hoping it won't make any difference since we'd be dropping 2 people not adding 2 people.

Anyone have any experience with this situation?

PS. I plan to call and modify the PS as soon as I know for sure, but that might not be until a day or two before (Sometimes, my "non-planning/can't make a commitment and stick to it" relatives make me NUTS)!

I had PS for 3 (which would be considered a 4 top table in most WDW restaurants) at CRT's for breakfast our last visit. I called the day before to modify it to 2 since we had a deposit I was concerned they wouldn't refund that extra $10 if I didn't modify the PS. I was told that they would credit me at the meal which turned out to be a fiasco when the bill came...long story (and still annoyed about it)...ended up paying more than I should have for just the 2 of us (adult and child).

Just wait til the last minute if even necessary especially if they're dinner PS. The will probably change you to a 2 top table since they claim they can't sit 2 at a 4 top (we had to wait longer than usual because of it, but remember that was at their princess breakfast).

DEFINITELY wait til the last minute to let them know, especially if you're not sure, better to have the PS for more than the amount of people in your party.

I'd like the answer to this question as well. I am pretty sure DH will not be accompanying us to the parks but he may change his mind at the last minute and I don't want to have to tell him he can't eat with us because I changed our ps(s) to 3 people from the 4 I currently have. Will they turn you away? It would seem to me it is easier to show up and say that there are only 3 instead of 4 than showing up and needing a table for 4 and only have a ps for 3. Help!!!

Edit: jwfla - thanks so much for your response! We must have been posting about the same time. My logic is the same as yours. I'd rather show up with one less than I reserved than have to beg them for an extra seat!

I actually only modified that PS (CRT's) because of the deposit but kept the others the way I originally reserved them (for 3) but it ended being just dd and I since dh couldn't make the trip.

I didn't have any problems, I even forgot I had made them for 3 (oops)...(we had them at GG & Chef Mickey's in addition to CRT's). And, actually at both of those we sat at tables that would have been for a larger party (so I guess I'm kinda contradicting what I said before), oops again

So, I wouldn't be too concerned if the party is smaller for most of the restaurants, in some cases it may get you in quicker

Thanks again for the quick reply. You have reassured me. The ony problem I can see is our T-day reservation (not a priority seating - I had to guarantee with a credit card) at Donald's breakfast at the AK. I probably should get hubby to tell me for sure if he will be doing that one with us or not. I don't want to be charged for him as a "no show". Or maybe they only charge if you don't show up at all. Anyway, I will try to pin him down on that one in particular. Thanks a bunch again!

For our last trip in August, it was supposed to be me, DH, SIL, and nephew. SIL and Nephew decided not to come. I called all of our PS's and switched them from 4 to 2. When we got to Ohanas, they still had us down as a table of 4. It wasn't a problem at all. The only way I could see it being a problem is if it is a PS where you need a credit card to hold the PS.
